Yeah, the China bias is a bit unfounded. But when it comes to skis, I'd rather have a pair made in a country where skiing is a dominant part of their every day lifestyle. that's just me. also i keep hearing horror stories about the early runs of Chinese manufactured skis delamming, etc. I've heard long time Line riders mention a difference in the older Vermont/Canada made skis and the newer Chinese made one. I've also heard nothing but bad things about their bindings, as well.
again, i did enjoy the Prophet 80 when I rode it and if I found a pair for well under $200, i'd scoop 'em up as rock skis. it was my understanding that the Prophet 75 was something of a prototype that was only offered for 1 season and quickly replaced by the 80.
Sierra Jim: I thought only certain models of the Volkl twins were made in China (specifically the Gotama and Dogen). Both my Mantras and Karmas from last season say "Made in Germany" on the topsheets.
