A marketers dream.

Here's the 7:00PM Update for you:

Loveland has 7", Berthoud 15", Copper 3", Vail 1" and Wolf Creek 15", Beaver Creek 3", Steamboat 0", Crested Butte 1", Eldora 20", according to snotel. Looks like the closer to the front range, the more snow (duh!).

When I heard the storm was coming, I took off from work last night and came up to silverthorne with my son (5 year old). I skied at Keystone today. It seemed like around 6-12" of snow on many of the trails (more towards the top). In the morning there was some ice underneath the powder. It was so good I had to ski until a little past 5pm (love that night skiing). I just hope it keeps up.

I finally got to try my new Rossi B4s (wife got them for me for an early Christmas present) in conditions that were good. They were great, although I probably would have loved any ski today.

I'm planning on going to Breck or Vail tomorrow.

P.S. My mother-in-law has been visiting for the last week or so, until after Christmas. I convinced my wife that this snowstorm was so good, that I had to try my skiis out. Skiing and missing out on mother-in-law family time. What more could I ask for? (Hopefully my wife never reads these forums).

Wow. I put on my snow boots at 7, drank a cup of coffee and the phone rang. From that point on all day I watched it snow through the window - working from home has its disadvantages - I finally stepped off my front porch at 4pm to shovel and sank in over my knee in the drift. I'm lucky I got my car off the street tonight. Even though I saw it through the window all day, I couldn't believe how much accumulation there was.

Bonus.. My wife just told me that Denver International Airport is closed until tomorrow night.

No crowds until the weekend and I'll be long gone by then.

Just knowing that this is a possibility gives me hope - but you should be careful not to jinx yourself like this.

I'm at 10'" at my house in Breck at 10:00pm. Breck reported only 3" at the 5:00p report but their base went from 30" to 37" which is obviously impossible?!? Considering what I have at 9700', they "should" have at least 15" at mid-mountain so far.

Normally they advertise higher snow falls. Hmm.

Maybe they are trying to make the Christmas travellers who can't fly into DIA feel better by advertising less?

Keystone definitely has more then they are saying right now. Although up at around 9300' near Silverthorne, I only got about 1-2".

Copper = 5"
Vail = 7"
Aspen = 10"
A-Basin = 10"
Steamboat = 14"
Winterpark = 21"

Looks like the Boat has got it again! Wish I could be there for first or second tracks in Shadows.

Happy skiing!

I was flying from Chicago to Denver yesterday and we were 30 min. from landing and they turned us around.

So I'm stuck in Chicago likely for another night.

Enjoy the freshies !

Breck notoriously underreports their snow. This morning they reported 5" total from this storm which is ridiculous. I've had 12" at my house 1500 feet lower than their weather station. They either do it on purpose in order to move traffic away from Breck, their snow blows away at the weather station, or their station is in a place that doesn't get a representative amount of snow. I've talked to Breck execs about moving the weather station but they have no interest stating that it's up to ski patrol.

Not sure if it's official, but the Weather Channel just reported that DIA may stay closed thru today, reopening on Friday.

And you've known me to get cocky how often?

Just heard it reported on the radio, I would take it as gospel.

According to DIA's website (http://www.flydenver.com/), they'll re-open mid-day Friday.

Light snow on and off today. About 12" at Keystone yesterday and overnight. I went back to Keystone because other places in Summit Co were reporting 5" or so.

This morning the groomers were soft and easy. Non groomed trails and trees had knee deep powder. Woohoo! Best 2 days so far this season. I hope it keeps up.

I'm worn out... now to try driving home...
