Volant skis

Thread Starter
Can anyone tell me the difference between Volant machete SINS and the machete SOUL? They are a few years old and I have the SIN, but am curious about the Machete SOUL. Thanks, HARV :

Soul was narrower, IIRC. Something along the line of 75 underfoot? More of a frontside skil The SIN is 82 or 84 or something like that. I should go check mine... don't remember exactly either.

i'd love to see a breakdown of the entire Machete line from the McG on through the Spatula with dimensions....

The Soul is narrower 109/72/99, while the Sin is 115/81/104.

The rest of the V2 Machetes are: FB 128/94/116; Truth 108/69/98; Spatula 120/125/115.

Steel cap Machetes are: The Machete Huckster (McH) 110/92/102; Machete G (McG) 104/68/95; Machete 69 100/74/92

Mucho gracias!

These were the models all designed by McConkey, right?

So the Chubb ain't a Machete, right?

I've decided that I want an entire quiver of McConkey Volants!

Chubbs are not Machetes, you are correct.

How much imput McConkey had in the design of the various Machetes is beyond the scope of my knowledge, though I know the Huckster and Spatula were his babies.

cool beans.

The McG's I stumbled across say "McConkey Design" or something of that ilk on the top sheet.

Yes they do say that, but they are the same dimensions as the Epic T3. I expect that on some Machetes, Shane was less involved in the design than others.

Ever hear of this thing called Google?

It will direct you here.

Save your wishes for something worthwhile. Like snow.
^Damn! Lack of snow has turned you into Captain Snark!

And for the record, I never "wished" for a breakdown of McConkey Volants, I merely said that I'd "love" to see a breakdown. Therefore, I haven't used up any wishes that could be directed toward snow as of yet.

And while I've certainly heard of Google and have even been known to use it from time to time, I was more interested in Volant Addict's breakdown of the skis, seeing as how he is the "resident" Volant "expert".

In that case, don't use up your loves. They're even more valuable. In theory, at least.

I don't expect anyone, even VA, to be able to spout off the dimensions of the entire Machete line.

[snark]

And you left some quotes out of your message -- I think you meant to say: "he" "is" "the" "resident" "Volant" "expert".

Be careful what you wish for. I have a large number of the Machete series (2 Souls, 4 Sins, 2 FBs). I've bent 3 pairs beyond use in a season and a half. I like the feel and skiing ability of the Sins the best, but the 2004 versions (with the built-in plate) are definitely a bit softer and less durable than the 2003 version (with the flame graphic).

One pair of my Souls are completely unused and will be going up for sale. More than likely I'll also be dumping the FBs.

Boy, that's a quote you don't want to have taken out of context...

But hey, it's what I do.

Actually "expert" was quite apropos, I am not an expert, but rather a maven.

Are you sure you're not merely a "maven"?

Dammit; that JPEG in my post above was supposed to show my Volant-heavy quiver: Machete Sins X 2 (175, & 185, the latter brand new and still waiting for their first day out), Machete G (193), PowerKarve (also 193 and picked-up brand in-the-wrapper new off eBay for $79 this past spring), SuperKarve (at 198, my longest and oldest pair), Machete FB (aka "Fat Bastards", 175 and the sweetest ride I've ever had ), and my brand new Spatulas (186, of course, and also off of eBay this past Spring)

Can you tell us more about the FB's? In case it's not obvious just yet, I've got a thing for Volants.
uh-oh, VA's got a doppleganger!

i have Spats, freshly mounted and awaiting some knee deep (at least) dumpage.

found some McG's laying around in a local shop but the kids on duty said the computer had them listed for $699. Yeah...right.

found a new pair of Chubbs, too. But the Austin Powers specials sound much more to my liking.
