Utah Getting Hammered

At least 12" new in my driveway this morning and still coming down hard. Snotel sites showing (as of 6:00AM MST):

Thaynes (PCMR) 14" new, 20" new since Friday.
Snowbird 9" new, 24" new since Friday

Gonna go get me some right now on dawn patrol. Will report in later.

How much did you get in Colorado, Mr. Vertical? I think there's a typo on all the snotel sites because they are showing 0" the past 48 hrs.

just started snowing

Just started snowing here this am (a couple of inches in Gypsum)-will hit it up around noon (dust on crust) and tomorrow (hopefully good accumulation).

the low stalled over Utah (lucky bastards) and we will get the dregs..not really complaining-just frustrating when these cut off low scenarios

Tomorrow should be pretty good-

It looks like Utah's snowfall is finally coming around this season. This is when it starts and basically never stops- awesome.

It's a funny snow. I'm sitting here in Ogden dry. Yet I look up toward Mt Ogden less then 1/2 mile from my home and it is snowing hard.

Total freakin' powder fest out there today. Killer stuff. face shots, freshies, the full cockroach deal (obscure Hawaiian surfing term). I was going to post in some detail, but I'm too wasted. Sorry- no pics- maybe somebody else remembered to charge the camera...
The best news is Utah's back in business. it's still snowing & more on the way.

Oh yeah, stats- there was at least a foot on the runouts that had been groomed last night, but a good 18+"- certainly knee deep- in a lot of places that had seen some accumulation. All in all, a very nice showing...

You living in Ogden now? Strawberry opened today and the low angle stuff was really fun.

Powder,
Far from getting hammered here, 3"-4" in the Summit, 6"-7" down south by the Wolf Creek ranch. Its cold & something might be brewing South, which if my magic 8 ball is right,Weds-Thurs could be interesting!

Yeah I see that popping up on the forecast models. Could be good if it's moist and taps into the cold air.

So is Southern Utah, but no way am I driving down there when there is still 3'+ in the BC around here. How far a drive is Wolf Creek from where you live?

Powdr,
About 300 miles from the Metro house to the Folks ranch house! (between Del Norte & South Fork) spent a large part of my life in the San Luis Valley, went to school all the way to Adams State College Class of 80. Then moved on! So the 300 miles is just a trip back home!
We also have a place in Leadville Co. View of Mt Elbert out my front door. Which cuts about 100 miles off the drive if we go from there!
The present storm thats going on right now, is the classic El Nino pumping moisture from both the Pacific & the Gulf.
Back in the Spring of 81 0r 82 one of my brothers & my self were caught on BLM land with a small heard of cows & it snowed 65" in 48 hrs tooks us 3 days after the storm to get back to the ranch
Was hoping to catch the wave of the present storm, but a day short & the interstate in now closed, might get there by friday, looks like there will be one more storm ripple sat or sun, but not the 60"-70" this storm will produce!

Good luck! Looks like you might have to "settle"*for something closer. Snotel on Berthoud snowing at least 15" new, and the closer to the front range the more you get.
