Hey everybody I've been skiing for about 5 years but have only really gone about 6-10 times total and I've been able to do some double blues here on the east coast with not too too much difficulty. I have been renting this whole time though so I figure it was about time for me to get myself some skiis. My friend at the local ski shop wants to sell me his Volkl G3's a couple of years old with Piston Bindings which he says is cool because I guess they're like shock protection on a car...at least that's what I got out of it. I mean the skis are in great condition just need to be tuned a little but for $200 I figure it's not bad as a first time used ski for me to start on and considering I don't want to really shell out $1000 for a new setup. Boots I guess I can go get any, I know they're supposed to be tight and fit well and that I can figure out, but I'm just wondering what people think about these skis for a novice, my friend who has them says they're fast and I have read about them a little here on the forums... I can get down the mountain without a problem on most runs just not the east coast blacks. I really love skiing and want to do more of it, so if anybody has any ideas about these skiis I want to go over and buy them tomorrow so let me know. Thanks!
