I bought a pair of Blackeye 164s last weekend. Demoed them on a powder day in Taos, and they did better than I thought they would in 12+ inches. Felt pretty nice carving big turns. Very nice on bumps, not bad on groomed, but I tend to the bumps. I almost bought the Dynastar Legend 8000s in 172, but the shop sold them between demos, so I tried the 165s and liked them a lot. And then the shop got the Nomad line in, and I had to have it after a day of demoing. The Legends weren't as demanding and felt great no matter what I did to them, but the Blackeyes performed very well when I skied well. Somehow I kept catching outside edges and flipping around on the Legends, but not on the Blackeyes. I don't think I'll grow out of them anytime soon, and will probably keep it as my all mountain ski for a good while.
I am probably a 7 or 8 skier when up to speed, 5'11", 160 lbs., 36, but only came back to it this year after a 15 year hiatus and am not quite used to the shaped skis yet. My last pair was 200cm. So I don't want to post a lengthy review just yet.
