Oops, I did it again, and again.....

What was it that impelled me? Am I seeking to live up to my name, or is it simply that the name I chose was so perfectly chosen, that it maps my path?

So a few nights back, I spot an auction on ebay for a model of Chubbs in a 190 that I don't have, and since no one has bid, I enter a moderate bid, and forget about it.

The next day comes around and I spot mtlion's Dec. ski sale thread, and discover that he has my most favorite skis in the world for sale (the last American Chubbs are rare to find on ebay even), so after some PMs confirming they are what I hope, the next day, I buy them.

Then today, I hazily recall that I actually bid on those other Chubbs and go back to look at the auction, only to find that i won, and for the lowest bid possible, $40. Oops, now two pairs of Chubbs are headed for my already Chubb laden household. This brings me up to six pairs of Chubbs. :

Anyone looking for some 180s?

And no, I'm still not desparate enough to be lowballed or sell them for rock skis.

The first step is to admit you have an addiction...

I believe I have that well covered.

...now, the next thing is to decide - is the addiction a problem?

If not, then
If it is, then you need to re-evaluate how you define a problem, so that the addiction is no longer a problem.

my daddy taught me that if it doesn't cause a problem, it's not a problem.
So, what's the problem.
You are making very wise decisions VA. I'm glad you found a ski worthy of multiple possessions.

This begs the question:
How many shiny objects do you have in your Watch List?

You don't have a problem, you buy skis....no problem!

I would never buy skis on the internet. :
Nope. In fact other than the ones I bought about the time you posted this, I don't think I'll ever buy skis ever,

Maybe there is group therapy? Or maybe this is it! :

This forum is some kind of therapy, but I woudln't know how to classify it.:

When my husband sees a new pair of skis he doesn't recognize, I say something like........
Don't you remember those?.............and leave it at that.
I think he questions his rememberer instead of my gear buying addiction. Does that make me bad?
Just kidding, he's as bad as I am in the gear department.

Ahh you womenfolk are so convincing and sneaky ... what would we do without you though. My wife does the same thing - claims she told me something and I don't remember. I've caught her a few times though - I'm onto the scam!

As far as the ski addiction - I too {heart} Volants, although I've heard they don't make em like they used to. But everyone makes fun of the skis due to their weight and such. I just tell em - hey, I'm 6-2, 220, I need a heavy ski

Yeah they don't make 'em like they used to, and so I just buy the ones they used to make.

I figure I have enough Chubbs to last me for the next couple decades, IF I get a base welder.

You have to show self restraint....like me.

If I showed restraint like you, I'd have several more pair than I do now.

I'm really done now, well, except for bindings. The '98 Chubbs have M41s on them and that just won't do. The '02s have no bindings, so I'm sorta in the market for at least one pair of Salomons, but they have to be a REAL bargain.
