Will be in Park City this weekend with my 10 y/o daughter... Which resort will be least crowded on Sat?

I assume both will have a good amount of green/blue trails open...

Thanks

100% getting over to Alta and Snowbasin .... Will do that during the week...

On Sat I have to help them provision the house - I have the car... So the kid and I will try to get in a few laps from 8am - 1pm before they arrive. Need to stay local.....

Alta & Snowbasin are nowhere near each other?

Snowbird is next to Alta. Did you mean Snowbird?

not a local but doubt your really have to worry about actual "crowds" before xmas in utah. 3 utah resorts i skied this weekend had NO lines. An intermediate whom i met on the plane home told me they were disappointed in the Canyons because most runs were either green(long runouts) or blacks, with not enough blues. I can see why he said that.

My bad - Snowbird......

We are looking forward to seeing as much as possible... Renting a car this time so we will be all over the place during the week. Maybe even go snowmobiling for an afternoon....

If they have snow, try to get to Snowbasin!

I didn't care for The Canyons.

Ya gotta wonder about a ski mountain named Canyons?

not sure what "My bad - Snowbird...... "
means but anyway...what I conside "getting all around" would be, if it is open(was not this weekend), take the Snowbird Mineral Basin Snowmoble experience. That would be an unbelievable awesome Scenery Unsurpassed experience for anyone. You take the tram up to the top, incredible!, then MB quad down to the snowmobiles and MB is like you are in the alps in Europe(okay, i've never been there<g>), but huge, remote, white, and past years they had dozens of smowmobiles down there for touring.

Boys and girls, unless we get quite a bit of snow in the next few days I'd skip snowbasin. They need some snow and are skiing on limited terrain.

I had a feeling! Too bad, great area!

And, again, I say for 4 hours with a ten year old girl on the first day, Deer Valley. You won't have crowds, the snow should be fine, you won't have to worry about borders on her first day navigating down the mountain, and it's Deer Valley.

Take her up on Wasatch Express and look to your left as you get to the top and show her the expanse of the Jordanelle resevoir. Then take her down Sunset to Ontario, all the way to the bottom.

Sure, you'll have opportunities to ski it on subsequent days, but with just you and her, it'll be a great and stress-free choice to get some dad and daughter time. Have fun whatever you decide and be careful.

To answer the OP's question, PCMR will be MOBBED on Saturday. The SLC/Provo crowd comes up in droves every Saturday. Mom drops the teenies off at the ski hill and goes outlet shopping while Jr. goes nuts on the sick terrrain parks (takes mad skillz, dude). I've never seen so many dudes hucking it down Payday backwards (without any ability to actually ski). Then on Sunday, all the precious little ones are forced into all day Mo churches and PCMR is 180 degrees better. Go to The Canyons. At least there isn't *quite*as much a scene there.

Just remembered--Not only will PCMR get mobbed for all of the usual reasons expressed by Powdr, but they are also offering a $20 lift ticket on Saturday to "celebrate" their anniversary. Guaranteed tip to tail lines all day. I would avoid like the plague. If you insist on skipping DV, I agree with the Canyons as the choice on Saturday.

Many thanks............

DV it is....
Well, now that I've convinced you I re-thought whether I should correct my mistake, but "the truth will out"--I am incorrect about the 20 buck lift ticket deal. It's on Friday, not Saturday (but stick with DV anyway for the reasons Powdr pointed out). Have fun. Be safe.

My vote goes for Park City. I have been there several times and it is great. Your 10 year old will have plenty of stuff to ski. I have never been to the Canyons- every time we are about to go, we always hear negative stuff about their snow conditions.

You should be more specific. I did and it's dumping in the Cascades right now! And it might just make it's way to LCC begining of next week. Better late than never.

I liked the Canyons better than Park City. Canyons for some reason get a bad rap for some reason. Maybe its not the easiest to navigate, but there is a lot of cool terain.

Go to the Cottonwoods. It's raining here, at the base, anyway. - it'll be snowing there.
