Best Front Side, Eastern Ski Is?

Thread Starter
I'm spend most of the ski season in northern VT skiing, bumps, and the firmer conditions of New England.

Any suggestions for a ski that is flexible enough to work in in the bumps but also stiff enough to hold on almost anything short of black ice?

My favorite ski is the Salomon Hot Scrambler. It's nimble and great in almost every condition except hardpack, which is much of what the East dishes out.

Suggestions for a similar ski with great edge hold?

You could ask 10 people here and get 10 different skis. All will be right. If you like your Scamblers, I would start by saying try one of the Salomon X-wings.

I'm intrigued by the Dynastar Contact 11.

The Salomon X-Wing Tornado replaces your Scrambler Hot and is supposed to be much-improved, with more oomph and better grip. I second checking those out, if you like your Hots.

I ski my Volkl 6 stars anywhere. Sure, not suited for bumps that well, but I don't have any problems. For eastern edge hold these really are hard to beat.

I ski the same conditions and am looking at Elan's Magfire 10.
(it fits my budget)

I demoed that one last year. For what the OP is looking for I think it's just about perfect. I am hoping to have a pair soon.

How'bout RX8 ? I wonder how Dynastar Contact 11 compare to the RX8 for hardpack?
