Thanks Tom, Don and Dookey, however my youngest is now 15 months. My partner is the new dad and I will pass the congrats on to him. He is taking off some time and I am picking up his schedule this Thursday. Rereading my post I see how it got misinterpreted. My girls are 4.5 and 15 months and are quite a joy. The older one was skiing 9 times last year on the magic carpet. She is excited about skiing this year and will be coming with me on many Thursdays and on our two ski vacations. I want her to enjoy it so won't force her if she doesn't want to that day. She is very independent and strong willed. The younger one is a climber and wants to do everyhting her sister does, so I'm sure we will get her on some skis by age two (at least in the backyard). I can't wait for them to cajole me into doing runs I don't want to - "Ahh, come on Dad, its only a 10 foot cliff!"

My first day will probably be January 4th.

Thanks bumpdad for update and please pass on congrats to partner. Yes, my first 10 foot "huck" my girls got me to do was a gas. What got them peeing their pants with laughter after my face plant was the fact the younger daughter said (I'm 6'3" tall) that I would have been better off just simply dropping down and standing tall vs. all the twisting an turning convulsions I exhibited in flight (or was that fright )

Went to Crotched Mountain in NH Saturday night. 100% manmade PP. Had a great time, but took a wicked faceplant at the end of the evening right under the main lift. I think I suffered a mild concussion. I was wearing a helmet.

Gives new meaning to the term "hitting the slopes".

you didn't hurt the mountain, did you?

(my dad used to say that to me when I came inside after getting hurt skateboarding or whatever.... it really pissed me off that he could joke when I was in tears. )

6 days and would be double that if were as sick as a dog with the flu Still surprised myself logging 27500 vertical ft. on Sunday despite being sick. Normally I wouldn't be logging that kinda vertical till mid season when I'm in better condition.

I was planning on getting a little trip to NC in (I know, it sucks, but it's on snow) over Christmas break sometime- but with temperatures like they are now, it doesn't look good.

Timberline last monday for a great day of groomers and rocks. Driving home I hit a parking lot drain that slammed the front end so hard it broke two of the Passats' oil pans. $1300 later I am back on the road and heading for Crystal Mt. on the 19th-21.

Yes...Heavenly the day after Thanksgiving...the white ribbon of death, but when you live in the south, turns are turns. Heading off to Colorado on Tuesday for 3 days of some real skiing finally, I'm totally stoked.

Going on 7 days here, all at Mission Ridge, Thur the 14th was one to remember, 20 inches over the past 2 days while they were closed, 12 new while we skied, on the groomed runs stuff broke over the knee's.

I think the year is off to a GOOD start.
