Fischer RX8 length advise please

Thread Starter
Hello,

I am from Holland and 27 years old. My weight is 172lbs and my length is 6,19 feet. I am planning to buy a pair of Fischer RX8. I thought that 170cm would be enough, but the salesman at the shop adviced me the 175cm RX8 (that would be chin height). He said that this cross skis must not be skied to short.

What is your opinion about this?

It's really a personal choice. At your weight you could get away with either length. The salesman sounds right unless you are a lower intermediate, or are skiing on very small hills. I'm 5'9", 165 lbs and enjoyed the 170 cm RX8.

At your height and weight, I think the 170cm is will be fine. That would be my choice. The RX-8 is designed to be a slalom type carver that is at its best in short and medium turns.

If you want a more GS type ski then in the Fischer line, the RX-9 might be a better choice at 175cm. Both are great skis.
