Tour best bet is the FIS site. If you are ambitious, you can see race points, and all the split timing there as well.

Twice now I have found out (after the fact) that CN8-MidAtlantic has shown a race. I think they show the WCSN feed. Is there a way to find out ahead of time when this is going to happen?
For complete results you can go to www.fis-ski.com

Major problems

I was so excited when I heard about WCSN from this forum, because I have been going through major World Cup withdrawal since OLN stopped providing coverage. So I gladly parted with nearly $50 for a year's subscription, only to find out that service was less than optimal. The video would freeze on me mid-race, and there was nothing to be done other than to start over, only to have it freeze again. I e-mailed, per the online instructions, for a cancellation and refund, but after hearing nothing back, I finally called a customer service number that I found somewhere. They were less than helpful, telling me that they had indeed canceled my subscription, but because I missed the five-day window (five days?!!!) for a refund, were not sure that I would get my money back. Hello? I am so disappointed. I would gladly pay $100 a year for guaranteed coverage of the sport I love. Why isn't anyone listeneing? So for anyone else out there thinking of subscribing to WCSCN, I'd say, let the buyer beware.

Sounds like a technical glitch on your end. The streaming video is broadcast once, and if you lose your connection then start again you pick up later in the broadcast. If you are watching archived footage it should let you start from anywhere you want (although there will be some delay while the film buffers).

Are you on a reliable broadband connection? What media player software are you using?
My broadband connection (Cox Communications) seems reliable. As for software, I'm using Windows Media Player 9 for Mac OSX. Any advice would be appreciated -- thanks.
In Windows Media Player go to tools>options>network and there uncheck both RTSP/UDP and RTSP/TCP protocols (keep checked only HTTP) and see if this will help.
Thanks, that seemed to help. I didn't get to give it a full test, since I was pressed for time, but I seemed to make it longer through a race without technical difficulties than I ever have before. Unfortunately, it was just long enough to make me realize how annoying that commentator is! I may be dating myself, but oh how I long for the days of ESPN coverage and Todd Brooker.
oh well, just turn the sound off

The latest ski jumping event they carried was a direct raw feed without comment. It was so nice and refreshing to watch!

I also loved the Are worldcup championship online coverage on NBC / Mediazone. It was raw direct feed form Eurovision in suprisingly good quality and no cooments whatsoever! You could actually hear the arena commentator sometimes, which was all I needed to hear - excellent!

Hey! why not showing Beaver Creek downhill tomorrow?
Because NBC bought the rights to it. Not sure when they are showing it this year -- usually weeks late in a totally butchered broadcast only showing full runs of winners and top Americans.
NBC is showing the slash-and-burn version of the Beaver Creek DH on Sunday, December 2, at 2 pm EST. In yesterday's coverage of the Super Combi, I saw the NBC commentators milling about at the finish area, so they were doing their usual thing: "we'll show the U.S. races and show only 10-or-so racers - that'll placate the masses, right?"

Whatever.

WCSN will show the whole enchilada the same evening (12/2) at 8:00 pm EST.

Watching races on your stand alone media viewer

Last season, I would copy the URL into my windows media viewer so that I could get a better size screen and use FF, RW, etc. However, this year, they have slammed us with promo ads (and I'm highly pissed, as this is a pay service and I don't recall paying to see ads), and the URL that is given in the properties is the URL to the promo. Has anyone figured out how to get the correct URL to watch the even in another viewer other than the one built into WCSN?

And on another subject, is there anyone out here that has Verizon FIOS and subscribes to WCSN? If so, do you have the opton with FIOS to view shows from your computer, on your TV sets? I'm going to get FIOS (they have run the lines, but it's not available quite yet) with this option and want to know how well it works.

Update: The add on for firefox called "media player connectivity" will let you watch the videos using whatever program you want.

It would be great to have access to WC skiing in Canada, please!

I just love how mmowry was here last year, and customer service was great. They would answer your emails in well less than a day, etc. Now, they have absolutely zero customer service. They don't show up here, they don't respond to emails, they don't answer in their user forums. I'm almost ready to drop the service if something doesn't improve.:
JohnH, drop me a PM. I'll find out what's going on, but this hasn't been my experience working with them.
Any of you guys with gripes, just be gald you have it at all. I'm living out here in the sticks with dial-up only, and it's hopeless to even try watching it. Fran Drescher could do the commentary and it would be better than what I have.

From the website:

FIS SKIING/SNOWBOARDING WORLD CUPS: All FIS World Cup events will be available for viewing in the following: United States, Virgin Islands (US), Guam, Puerto Rico, Samoa, Northern Mariana Islands.

CBC's coverage seems to be pretty good this year but it would be awesome to be able to watch all the races on-demand.
I expect it's a matter of licensing. I will speak with the WCSN guys about this, though.

i love wcsn!!!!!!! they have some of the best fis coverage and its only 5 bucks a month..thats seems to me like a pretty good deal considering how long the fis season is and the fact that no one else really has this coverage! love wcsn and love bode miller

i love it too! Sounds like stealth marketing though.... Doesn't WCSN get enough props around here as is?
WCSN's customer service really sucks this year. Every time I watch while I'm on the road I get a "blackout" message when I get home. Of course it's late at night and I can't get it fixed until the next day (which I often don't have time to do)
Now my credit card's expiration date changed and I can't simply enter my new date. After three consecutive days of phone calls I have to open a NEW account (this would be my third "new" account) Of course the "new" account can't use the old password ("someone else has it") What a pain in the a$$.
I'd pay more money for a more user friendly service. Anyone know of anything?
Oh yeah, those ads mess with my media recorder too.
They finally got back to me and solved the problem. I was able to "renew" just by going into my account and hitting "purchase". I didn't even get a "blackout" notice.
I'm happy again.
