i believe loveland opened 3 more trails, breck opened frosty's freeway, which IMO; you dont do early season without a good enough snow base, everybody got 6 to a foot in the past 3 days and its coming down today !

whatever you coloradans are doing, keep it up ! (even the guy that was *ahem* doing you know what w/ the wife.)

It was only minus 15 when I pulled into Copper yesterday!!!

Skiing was great though-even got to lead my clinic group down Calendar Chute in Spaulding Bowl when patrol allowed very limited access-2 skiers at a time in a 30 yard wide corridor. Definitely still a lot of rocks and there was a wind crust on the 18"-24" of snow. The run/traverse out was a pain in the backside. Sometimes you just get lucky, I had taken the group up Storm King to work on pressure management skills in some wind blown, chopped up snow when patrol waved me over to the entrance to Spaulding. Thank you ski gods!!! Actually, I think the ski gods were compensating TSAVO for her injuries the last two seasons and since she is heading to BC for a week of heli skiing today allowing a short practice run.

Patrol has also opened the backside of Sierra. A lot of the steeper, exposed terrain is not yet ready yet.

Cougar, I resemble that remark…and frankly…I don’t mind all the effort necessary to keep it snowing for everyone. However, I expect others to step it up as Mrs. Don and I do need a break and plan to enjoy actual skiing Saturday.

Don, where are you skiing on Saturday? I'll be up, just don't know where yet.

North bowl was opened on Turkey-day - nice, deep, sugar snow in the trees. It got way to warm though so Friday there was a nice thick crust.

They weren't allowing any hiking - but they were running the $5 cat up the bowl:

faisasy...

Mrs Don has me in with her office team joining up at Breck.

You could meet up with us and the office group at Breck although communicating logistics may get a little frustrating with this gang. Let me know. Regardless, would like to ski with you soon. Thanks.

Yes, but they closed all that back up during the week.

Winter Park had the same thing last weekend. The website listed Pioneer express as open, but none of the runs under it were open. It was not running that I could tell.

They did say that Chair 6 (and apparently all the runs it serves) are open, which is good news.
