Hi everyone:

My brand new mantras came in yesterday much sooner than expected, so I hadn't really begun looking for bindings. C n anyone recommend me a good set at a decent price? Thanks!

you just missed a pair of rossi axial 120 bindings on SAC for $99.00 (which retail for about $275-$300):

Backcountry has the Look PX12ti lifter for $139 (reg $265) and the Look PX12 Lifter for $118 (reg $220) on their outlet site. I also think there is a fair chance of them showing up on SAC shortly because they have quite a few of them (over 240 last time I checked).

Look P12's all the way... not the px, but the p12

whats the difference between the p12 and the px12?
What's different?

Generation, the P12 was replaced by the PX12. The heel design was changed to better work as a 'system' binding. The metal wings that used to extend at a 45deg angle along the side of the skiboot was reversed and now doesn't hold the side of the boot. No normal person will experience a performance change.

The change in heel design was actually made because the folks at Look we noticing that the pivot was giving great edge control because of the downward pressure the heel piece provided but on the newer, shorter skis the pivot was not allowing enough pressure to the tails of the skis. Thus the PX was invented. It still has the downward pressure of the old pivots (p's) and but now have the ability to keep the pressure on the edges all the way to the tail.

Thanks for the information! That is very very helpful.

In a similar vein, does anyone have a thought on the Salomon S711 PS bindings? There's a guy here that has some new for pretty cheap, and I have no knowledge whatsoever of this binding.
