disski no more

I've been advised that it would be preferable that I stop labelling myself as less than capable...

so the "dis" part of my name needed to go...
the "ski" part is not that unique here...

so I've simply rebadged....

Still me though....

Little Tiger(aka disski)

I for one think this new name fits you much better. Glad to see it .

Welcome Little Tiger.

Little tiger. It suits you. I like it. I never saw you as less than anyone. You are a little tiger. Well done. Miss Lioness would have worked also.

You go, grrrl!

I feel dumb, I never realized what your old handle referred to. So what does Little Tiger mean? Haha

And you gave the new handle a trial run over at SnowHeads. I understand the response was overwhelming

Good for you, LT. Now ditch the "little" if you want to complete your transformation. It's a diminutive, just like the "dis".

yeah but now I have the same name in both places people do not need to get confused as to who I am

interesting.

being a speech communications major and working as a journalist who often takes the liberty to create his own words, i just figured you were a transplanted Brooklynite.

"dis ski is da best ski in da world" being an example of how I envisioned you utilizing the "disski" moniker.

Little Tiger sounds like a name from one of the Karate Kid sequels.

I agree with dookey. Sounds like something I used to call my Son when he was 4.

The idea is to change MY perceptions - not yours....

the 'dis' was for disabled the 'ski' for skier....

Little Tiger has only positive connotations for me... besides my close friends assure me it suits... seems I run around a pharmacy or hospital matching this name... so it stays...

you are quite welcome to see me as a 4 year old...

it is not where I am coming from...

Better go back to school, dookey,,, you missed the boat by so much you couldn't even see it from shore.

The word is, more properly, 'amused'.

No confusion at all.

LT, did the PC police get to you (HiLo and Moosh maybe)? If they didn't like disski, you could have tried datski.

nah taxman.... I would not let HiLo get to me.... besides his son is disabled so he has mostly been just fine...

Moosh cannot change my name there - so I'm stuck for a while longer... I'll just have to close my eyes to post there

i guess i did miss the boat.

my bad.

That explanation works.

I thought I'd figured out the "disabled" part of disski earlier, which I counted as a bonus on your side, sounding as it does that you are comfortable and open with yourself. But regardless of moniker or condition, you're welcome to ski with me anytime!

Cheers,

Seconded, the new one works well though!

LT,

It is your name and what you want to be called. Don't let anybody coerce you into changing. As Bonni said, "GO GET 'EM TIGER!!!"

Haha! Distaff, yes! OK, now I can admit this is what came to my mind when I first read LT's posts. If I had really given it much thought, maybe I would have figured it out, but I just thought 'distaff skier' and never considered it further.

With the things you have done with your life and skiing over the past few years the name is very appropriate. You should be very proud of your achievements.

Have a great winter in the big mountain ski world of Europe & NA and roar down the mountains trusting the Little Tiger inside.

Rip it up
