If you don't want to wear a helmet then join the ranks of the aging Geritol Harley Davidson rider who will argue till hell freezes over it's better to ride a motorcycle without a helmet.....It's your cabbage...do what you want with it, but if there is really any grey matter left inside there you'd wear one....if you don't I don't give a rat's a$$ it's your turnup and not mine. ....such a figgin dumb a$$ thread
I think Fernie and Garry Z have more of less hit The Nail on the head. It is matter of personal choice, how safe do we all want to be? How much protection do we want?
1: do we want to drive the safest car around?
2: do we really want to drive up a two lane road covered in snow and ice?
3: do we really want to be suspended 30' above ground by a 1" cable in a raging snowstorm?
4: do we buy the very best snow tyres for our latest all-wheel-drive automobile with 8 airbags, stability control and the very best NTSHA crash ratings?
5: looking at it a different way...and close your eyes kids...how many of us use "protection" when having sex with people we have known for less than 10 or 15 years? Even after multiple tests there is still a chance you, or your partner, may be HIV positive!
6: good gawd, I had sushi Wednesday night, I may be poisoned from uncooked fish! Just ask a former Soviet spy (though I doubt if he will reply).
I have had three broken legs in my life, yet I still continue to walk around (two were from stepping off curbs / stairs incorrectly).
I drive a car, and a wear a seatbelt. One of my cars is very safe (a late model Mercedes-Benz), the other is not (a 1968 MG). Guess which one I enjoy driving the most (when it runs...).
I used to race cars, and I was relatively good at it. Ever driven 170 mph in an old car with alumimun body panels and a 3/4 tube frame? I cannot say it was terribly smart or logical....
I fixed a meal tonight that involved 1.5 cubes of butter, 1.3 bottles of red wine and a fair amount of triple creme brie...go figure.
I have had two concussions skiing, once I was knocked out for a considerable period of time....and yet I continue to do it. Why? Because I enjoy it. Skiing is not a safe sport, it is not a logical sport, I do it because I enjoy it. Damn the stats, damn government reports.
No helmets are needed to play poker, and I would be bored as h*ll playing poker.
Yes I am technically overweight, yes my cholestrol is too high. I would rather die tomorrow then live a boring life where I was concerned about tree branches, out of control snowboarders, and too much sodium.End of Rant!
