JH Auction

Sorry Phil, Ziggy and I tried to get a couple more to go in and bid 600 but no takers. So I'll have to ski JH for the lst time alone.

Come now, Pete... Bob is available other days, as well...

I've decided that I'm going to gift my day of skiing with Bob and $800.00 of Delta Airline vouchers to Highway Star.

Ha!

He wouldn't be the first person to school me on my own mountain. :

Thanks again for the bid. I can't wait. We'll have a blast.

unfortunately

gentlemen and ladies,

Unfortunately no one jumped in with Pete and I so I guess we are out. I could swing 1/3 of $600, but since it is 8:42 PM on the last day ... Mr. K, you go boy. Have a wonderful day and give us a report.

... anyway we are supposed to get another 3" here at Keystone tonight. Maybe tomorrow I will not find anymore rocks (hee hee).

under the umbrella of better late than never ...

I GUESS IT PAYS TO READ THE WHOLE THREAD BEFORE RESPONDING. Just found the 2cd page after posting the above. I responded to a note on my yahoo account. Still - Mr.K, you go boy!

What a great day! My auction bid held up and it's dumping here tonight too. My 14 yo son and myself hope to ski with Bob on the first day of our first trip to JH. We did something similar on our first trip to Alta and it was a huge bonus to have someone orient us to the mountain and show us where to max out our enjoyment. It's nice to know the money I've spent will help maintain and improve Epic Ski.

Of course I was just joking about gifting the day with Bob to Highway Star. It might be worth it if Bob could get video of him leaping into Corbets...

Congrats, MisterK, and I'm sure you'll have a great time. We'll look forward to the trip report, complete with photos, after your day with Bob!

You could probably take up a collection for that one and turn a profit on the deal! (kidding. Congratulations and do us New Mexicans proud!) Don't forget lots of photos and keep a journal!

Is there a trip report on this?
Bob... Get the JHMR to make this an annual donation. It sounds right inline with what they were saying at yesterdays meeting. I'm really impressed that they did it last year and I know that the winner had a great time. I'm actually feeling very special right now that I'm gonna ski with you tommorrow. I can hardly wait. I just got a new pair of cheap rockers (183 Daddys).

What's all the excitement about skiing with Bob. First off, he's cursed. People that ski with him damage equipment at a high rate. I've skied with him twice. The first time I lost a ski and didn't find it until the following summer. The second time I severely compressed an edge on my Pocket Rockets. Secondly, he'll make you feel like a klutz. He'll take you over to the Hobacks where he'll ski the varying snow conditions and terrains as smoothly as if he were carving turns on fresh courderoy while your hookings edges and being thrown fore and aft.

I had a lot of fun skiing with Bob today and hardly broke anything. I'm good at skiing through rocks though. I can see what you mean about Bobs skiing, I'm pretty strong, but Bob is SMOOTH. We should all get after him to get another private day donation out of the JH Ski School, it could become an annual event. The JH ski corp says that they want a stronger internet presence. MisterK cash that in and let us know how it works out for you.

I'm actually starting to wonder if Rio is right. Maybe I am hard on other people's equipment.

My wife broke another boot buckle today - that's two buckles in the last two days she's skied with me. Also, Rio, one of my ski school clients lost a ski during a powder day last winter. I looked for at least an hour and a half and never found it. (At least you eventually FOUND your ski. ) Maybe I *am* cursed.

Also, tetonpwdrjunkie, we need to hook you up with another EpicSkier. A former Utah resident whose Epic handle is AltaSkier might be even more of a rock magnet than you are. Prior to today, I'd never seen anyone who was more willing to push the rocky chute envelope than AltaSkier is. I would just stand there in awe watching some of the stuff he would ski. But after following you down a couple of those Targhee lines, I might have to rethink which of you is the more avid rockhopper. I can't even imagine the two of you skiing together. :

The thing about Targhee is that its not very steep or exposed. I become much more cautious when there are consequences. I was also using skis which I aquired as rockers, not the new boards that someone else was using.

Bob, please use correct terminology. I believe you are referring to AltaSkier skiing through "nature"
