My son and I finnaly got to go sking today. Most of the time we get a early start but not this year. Old man winter has been out to lunch so far here in N.C. We had a great time despite the rain.My girls dont like early season conditions so I'm looking foward to some real snow so I can take everyone up to have some fun. Lets all pray or chat for snow. I dont care what you do just put a word in for snow so we can get this season going. I'm really looking foward to Beech mtn opening this year they're suppose to have new snow making equipment and I'm really looking foward to hitting their OZ run with some snow on it.

Glad you got out today. My local hill (Wintergreen VA) has delayed their opening, probably until next weekend (they were supposed to open tomorrow). Snowshoe WV opened today, but I won't venture out there until they have more top to bottom routes open. At least another week of waiting for me!

By the way, didn't Catalochee ski area in NC open on November 4?

I'm pretty sure Catalochee has been open for a while with a 24 in. base or something- about the same as the west resorts. I'll have to head up there sometime soon.

I think Catalochee did open up early. I sure hope we have better weather in Dec. Its been warm and I think Sugar will have to close after this weekend. They had a 1.5 mile run open fron the top of the mountain but it was alittle brown in places when we were there. We go to Massanutten in Va. I like it because they have better mogul runs than any place in NC. Were going to go to Snowshoe this year and we've also talked about going to Wintergreen. Boone is so close that we can do day trips or even go up for night sking. We have a new resort that I think is going to open in 2007. I dont know the name of it but it's suppose to be alot larger than the other NC ski areas so we are really looking foward to next year.We need a real cold snap that last for a couple of weeks. I hope you get on the slopes soon.

Catalochee is almost as close to you as it is for me. I should go there someday but we always head north when we travel. I would check out the local forcast befor you head up because our weather has been about like yours. Today was great but not for sking.
