Well, summit county isnt going to be a turkey for thanksgiving ! With everything open at loveland excpet the ridge and 1 lift, all of peak 9 open and keystone having all of dercum open and vail opening today; everyone having time off next week should know winter wonderland is open for business !
and its real snowbases of 3 feet(or close to it), not rock-ski conditions !

loveland run status:

Funny, i got an email from Loveland last night saying chair 8 wasn't opening til tomorrow.

Cougar, we're going to have to give you a beatdown if you get here to CO! Trumpeting conditions at Loveland! : Nothing to see here, people...despite what the snow report says, Loveland has rock-ski conditions, and is more crowded than all of Summit County.

Now I just need to somehow delete my Loveland TRs.

I'll be there with three snowboarding teenagers on Sunday, so you've all been warned.

Jrbd, would you go I-25 north and stop at C470 and Quebec and take 3 more teens and boards please...PLEASE!!! Actually, I’ll make it easier. You won’t have to stop as these teens will just jump onboard from the Quebec overpass if you are not over 65mph.

come on faisasy. i'm down here in Houston where its as flat as a pancake and snows maybe an inch each year.
you'll have plenty of time to track it out before i get there. let us non-ski-country inhabitants enjoy the photos and snow reports, as thats all we have most of the time.

jrbd, look us up...

I'll be wearing an olive/black Mountain Hardwwear jacket, gray pants, red Nordica boots, and blue helmet. Noodler usually has a bright yellow jacket with silver Flexon boots. ssh usually has a blue jacket with a dark red helmet.

faisasy: I took your description along but didn't spot you. Maybe some other weekend I'll run into you. My outfit is very generic, black and blue. My son says he can't identify me on the slopes because I look exactly like everybody else.

It was a beautiful day to be out, and the snow was nice. What part of the mountain do you tend to ski on? We spent most of the day lapping Lift 6.

Come on up, the parking lots aren't full yet! Loveland never gets really crowded, and the snow is better than the big places.

Saturday AAR (After Action Report):

I went to Arapahoe Basin and Keystone Saturday. I drove past Loveland and the parking lot was full. The coverage was spectacular and that is why they are fully open. Unfortunately for me I did not have my Loveland card yet. At A-Basin I waited 45 mins to get to the top of Montezuma Lift. I skied one amazing run through Land of the Giants that at one point was knee deep powder. Montezuma Lift had stopped and the line was huge. I bailed and drove down to Keystone.

When I got to Keystone I was worried I had made a mistake. I had to park all the way over by Mountain House and had to wait in another huge line for the bus. The lift by Mountain House was not running. I got to the River Run Gondola about 11:30 and there was absolutely no line. I hopped on the quad by the Gondola and started doing laps. I skied about 10 gratuitous blue groomers top to bottom before my legs told me they were tired. The runs on Dercum are so long they actually wore me out. With more lifts open this weekend Keystone will be good stuff. Hopefully A-Basin will have the Pali lift open. Vail is going to open up more terrain and I am gonna try and head there next Saturday.

Loveland was practically deserted today and the conditions were pretty good. Coverage is starting to get spotty in some areas, so, boys and girls, it's time to start doing that snow dance again. We're hoping to hit Keystone later this week--anyone know how its terrain compares to Breck's in terms of coverage?

We must have crossed paths several times throughout the day. ssh, Noodler, and I were lapping Chairs 1 and 6 the whole day. Since we were demoing skis all day, we followed the same route on each pair and never made it over to Chairs 4 or 8. Next time...

Sorry I missed you guys! I'm generally dressed almost exactly like ssh in your pictures, unfortunately (generic skier, black and blue jacket, black pants, black helmet and gloves). I had a great day, no complaints about the coverage from me. I even got a few trips through the trees to skier's right of Keno; there were a few logs and holes to watch out for but overall everything was covered well.
