Help!!! Looking for skis for my wife....

After eight years off the slopes, my wife is ready to join the rest of the family on the slopes this year. When she stopped skiing eight years ago, she was an intermediate skier. She is 5'6" and 108lbs and not a very aggressive, mostly blues. She wants a ski that she can progress with. We ski mostly in the east, so I'd like to see her on a ski that can handle groomers well and hold edge (on ice). Any recommendations????

8 years? Private lessons with a good woman instructor. Start with boots and maybe rent or demo the skis. Where is the east will you be skiing?

We will be skiing mostly in Vermont and upstate NY.

8 years is not that bad. I haven't skied for 10 years and I survived!
I have Elan S8 fusion and I love them. I ski East and they've been good to me for 2 seasons now.

Have fun!

Seeing as your wife is small/light I'd point her to look at the Women's K2's. Maybe the True Luv if she wants to progress.

As for demoing... good luck if you want anything other than an expert women's ski. You *might* be able to find some True Luvs or maybe the One Luv (which is slightly stiffer and this year has a bit different dimensions than the True Luv) to demo at one of the ASC areas but I wouldn't hold my breath for demoing something. I thought of demoing before I bought my True Luvs, but no one was offering anything womens in the intermediate/advanced range when I was looking.

The k2's are really nice...Nice damp ski with a really big sweet spot. I've also heard pretty positive things about this year's Head Cool Thang and the Elan Black Perla in this kind of recreational intermediate ski group.
