Skied Stowe today it was sick. Myself and two friends hiked and had a blast. These were my first turns of the season and we're a little sloppy but better than not skiing. To quote a good friend of mine "I live for this ****"

Do we know an opening date for Stowe?
If someone posted it, I missed it.

Moving this thread over to trip reports, and looking forward to pics

Nov. 18th is opening day. That sometimes means a soft opening around noon the day before, so possible half day on the 17th definite on the 18th.

If you surround each of those urls with the pics will appear on the page rather than as just links.

how did i get my skis up there

well the lack of sherpas at stowe forced me to carry my own on my back. the trick is to walk up something with less coverage and less pitch then ski what you wish. there is a good ammount of snow and trust me the guns are blowing.

p.s. thanks for the help with the photobucket and link thing birdman

I've been wanting to make it up there. However, the earliest I could get up would be this Thursday. Now it says rain on Wednesday and possibly on Thursday. I don't mind skiing in some rain...I do it all the time. But do you think there is enough of a base to outlast the rain on Wednesday, or the warmer temperatures this week?

Rain

Yeah you should still be able to get some good turns in. I would suggest the fourrunner sp? quad area. The gondola line is more popular for a hike and is beccomming tracked out fast. The fourrunner area is or was still getting good snowmaking as of this weekend. I was able to ski almost to the bottom of nosedive and it was a decently long run. Good luck man and take a camara so you can share the stoke!!!

So at any ski resort, if you wanna hike up, they will allow you to ski it?
What are the rules here?

Rules

Stowe is very open when it comes to these things. They tend to allow more rope ducking and the like. If you check out www.stowe.com they clearly show pics of people hikeing and don't seem to care. If your unsure contact the hill and ask. I ran into the snow reporter for stowe and he didn't even bat an eyelash. I personally am a Kton employee so I wouldn't risk hikeing at any ASC resort.
