In the spirit of shamelessness.........
The "hand me down" stage 83-96:
I quit using these only because the boot soles fell off. ...And the bases are delaminating, but that's trivial.
The "gift" stage 97-99:
These came complete with matching poles and Explodica boots, which did.
Actually buy skis? What a concept! '00:
K2 4's first pair I bought, Explorers 2nd pair.
Expand a bit for '01 and trade Xplorers for Launchers:
244's still hanging in there - and don't laugh at those Elan 123's, they are adult skis and FUN! (until you boot out)
More for '02:
Kneissl's had interesting sidecut: 89-63-89 and incredibly quick edge to edge. Superb edge hold.
A nordic ski appears for '03 and some board like thing that's not a ski, but slides on snow:
The board thing is still around for '04 but R:EX's have replaced the Launchers. Also a dabble with Dynastar - did not like the forward binding mount combined with ridiculous amount of ramp angle from Look P12 lifters. SL9 160's favorite ski so far.
'05 shows the start of an infatuation with Head. And a new pair of "fat" backcountry skis. The Atomic SL-9 was so good, another pair had to be mine, but the 170 is a totally different ski than the 160.
More Head for '06, Big Easy's going to tele, Atomic M11's. I let cute race team chick talk me out of the SL9's - the only ski I regret selling. Oh, that and the Atomic R:10's I should have kept.
And is that a pair of Hexel Splitails on the far right? Yes! Take me back in time before the shaped ski "revolution" and this is the ski I would choose.
No big changes for '07, New Monster 72's, Atomic backcountry skis, a short tryst with Hart Javelins.
And for '08? No new skis, now going retro. How much work can it be to turn those Head Slalom Comps? I want to find out - before mounting them on the wall.
Finally, the boots.
Not pictured are Tecnica Innotec, Tecnica TNT XR, and Tecnica DPXR, all of which were far too high volume for me.
Somebody keep me out of the ski shop!
the graphic on your MRs freaked me out--mine is entirely different. Course I have the 179s.
I must admit my envy at the size of some of your quivers. I'm deeply humbled. I'm approaching my 29th season and although I've always bought myself a new pair every janauary, this is the first season that I have had two pairs of ridable skis. usually they're broken, or epoxied. Finally, I have evolved...
This quiver is a little fishy... yet something for everyone...
Hey what brand/model is that helmet? did it come with build in IPOD hookup or did you add that post purchase?
Nope, all new. Average price $361. Rossi axial binders from sac and bc @$99-$139.
I was "all set" then the Bluehouse deal came along. Then bc outlet had a 40% discount code and I got the one and only pair of Ants for $325.
Now I have "too much." No doubt I'll be passing a pair or two along next spring. Probably the BROs--they're so frikkn stiff they scare me.
