Anyone know the phyics of how edge burrs affect performance and therefore why deburring with a diamond stone is advisable ?

I can't say I have felt a burr, but my analogy is to think of a knife used to cut a tomato. If the knife is sharp and the edge is absolutely smooth it will cut through the skin easily (who needs a serrated knife?)
However a knife in need of sharpening will require force to cut a tomatoe and will often just not work at all, making that serrated knife seem necessary.
(Makes me wonder if serrated edges on skis might work nicely ) (Comprex?)
