I Want To Ski!!!

You know that feeling when you're in bed with your girlfriend and you have a movie on, and you keep on trying to make something happen but she keeps on saying "I'm trying to watch the movie," and then when the movie ends you get, "I'm tired." Well I would gladly take that compared to the anguish I'm going through right now. At least if I get rejected I can do something to fix my frustration. And to make things worse the weather is getting warmer this week, and none of the Vermont mountains will commit to an opening day. I suppose I could go to a ski shop and buy new skis and boots for a temporary fix, but I swore this year I would demo first before buying. If you don't have any outlet and want to vent on the lack of snow please add to the pot. To all you at Arapahoe...go to hell. You need not comment :.

Lack of snow? There has been snow. You've just had to hike to get to it. There have been some trip reports from Stowe and Jay at other forums.

I haven't hiked for turns yet either, but it is up there. Or at least it was. It is still October, for cryin' out loud! Give Mother Nature a chance. She'll be good to us this year. It's suppossed to get cold & snowy up north again this coming weekend. Break out the boots and start hiking! Then you'll really apprecriate the chairlifts when they start running.

All my skis are mounted. Boots are dialed in. Season Pass arrived today. I am set, all we need is some snow.

I'm just worried about a repeat 05/06 season. Don't worry I knocked on wood as I typed it. And unfortunately I'm not near any mountain where I can hike up...sorry 6 hours to stowe is not worth 2 or 3 runs...or is it?
Hmmmm.

I don't know..If I could get to Stowe in 6 hours, I would definately consider it for a nice weekender.

I agree, those Arapahoe folks are real jerks this time of year, sounding off with all their snow...I just hope one of them dares to respond.

Anyway, I'm trying to grasp your frustration cabrown. Hmmm…the closest I can imagine is a conversation I just had with my wife:

Wife: Hon, are you into the movie...
Don: Hell yes, it's just about done for heavens sake. Besides, you should be watching how Plake handles this deep stuff...just like what we will be experiencing tomorrow morning at A-Basin.
Wife: Do you feel like fooling around...I really need your attention
Don: Are you kidding me...after this movie it's sleep! All our energy will be focused on yet another October day of steep and deep at A-Basin.
Wife: Well, when will you take care of me...
Don: As soon as I devour all the powder at A-Basin

cabrown, I wish I could help, but I can't relate. I'm stuck with the usual October powder day(s) and a great wife who wants me constantly

Oh you bastard. You sound just like my buddy's dad last year when we were going to Jackson Hole and his friend couldn't go. I think JH came out about every 5 words give or take. I'll go to bed tonight praying for a heat wave and rain to hit you tomorrow .

While you're at it, start buying Kansas ocean-front property and investing in snow shovels for hell.

(YES, I deserve that, there was no reason to rub your face in all our snow, shame on me, my bad)

(Funny thing, my wife and I cuss the local weather reporters each eve when they say that we are going to have a sunny day in the mid 60's in Denver...we then pray for each and every snowflake all fighting not to melt up in the summit hoping they stay with us through season...).
Snow is coming your way...keep the faith...it's historically proven! As far as movie night with your girlfriend cabrown...punt & plan on a rebuilding year, hope for a high draft pick.

6 hours from Glastonbury to Stowe...what do drive 30 mph on 91?!?! Come on it's MAYBE...MAYBE...3.5 hours...probably closer to 3 if you drive like most normal eastern folk...

...now what kind of skier are you...get your butt up there and start hiking STAT!!

I am stoked about the ski season...but I won't be on the slopes for at least 2 months (I hate the SE!). Maybe I can get up to NC over Christmas break- I have a month off.

I hope you all are enjoying the snow! I'm so jealous.

You know the sad thing is you're right. The long version is I've always wanted to head up that way, but the american ski co college pass is prohibitive, so basically we always go to Killington or Snow. My friends always talk about how far Stowe and Jay are, and of course Sunday River comes up a lot and it is closer to 6 hours I think. So for some reason my brain cross referenced the two mountains. Ok I'll get going!!!
