Thanks for your kind comments, dookey67.

The book takes a look at skiing from a spirit/soul perspective, with technique and equipment mixed in. The focus is that skiing energizes, empowers, and impassions us, and it is these aspects of skiing that set it apart from other pastimes. It will talk about how that occurs, what happens when it does, how to find that experience, and what to do with it to grow personally and as a skier.

I'm very excited to get started...!

Could we take it a little further and make it have multiple meanings? Arcing Turns? Turning Anew? Fun Turns? ...this is feeling like it's leading somewhere...

I have until Monday for this...

That said, congratulations on the book deal.

Although I can't answer for Steve, all of the Dreamtime publishing books have a theme in common, which is personal growth through specific hobbies. But don't be fooled by the somewhat crunchy titles. All of the books in the series contain practical, concrete information.

Send me a PM if there is something you would like to write about.

In the meantime. here's the website:

I still like Mastering Life Through Epic Turns! That's my story and I'm sticking to it!

A couple of family suggestions:

... Dancing with Mountains

... Grace on Snow

Thoughts?

Don't know how I missed this Steve, Congratulations! How thrilled you must be. I know it will be a best seller and put me on the waiting list for an autographed copy please.

(if you want any skiing stories, I have a bunch)

Thanks, Lars. Consider it done!

And, you bet... I'll take any you'd like and probably start a thread about this...

How about "Mastering your life through downhill skiing." What it lacks in poetry it makes up for in clarity. This is in the same vein as Lisa's "Open your heart to winter fitness."

Sorry... I need to make this clear...

The title is: Open Your Heart With Alpine Skiing

We're discussing the subtitle, which must start with "Master Your Life Through..."

Oh, "Mastering life through dancing with gravity."

Skiing doesn't have to be unbearable.

The mastering life bit is a bit much--most of us don't even aspire to mastering skiing because we realize how tough that really is--but I understand the publisher's peccadillo about it.

Lisa said "love of the slopes" in the title of her book and Lars suggests "passion of skiing" -- which is a bit sexier. Dancing with gravity is nice, but doesn't really connect with the mastering life through part. It's more glib than meaningful.

I have experienced skiing as a metaphor for life and heard many other passionate skiers say the same thing--that climbing the learning curve in skiing is a journey of self-discovery. I'm not sure how you can encapsulate the liberation from ordinary life that skiing represents, but if you can do that I think you'd have a nice title.

top notch!

What a great piece of news

Our great sport needs to represented by epicski's #1 ambassador!!

I am in for an autographed copy too!! Puleeez??

Suggestion perhaps? A copy included with a certain level of supporter $$?

"The white path to mastering your life"

Find your inner peace.....look to the hills for answers....how the grace and beauty of alpine skiing can change your life.

.....nobody has better ski stories than me....nobody(ok maybe matteo) need a few I can come up with some classics.....never know might even include ski-totes in there somewhere!

Best of luck with it Steve, I have ofter considered attempting the same...this work thing always seems to get in the way of my ambitions.

BTW...this may sound a bit goofy but I sometimes think you act and sound a lot like Lito. Which in my mind means "you get it" as he clearly does. Thus this is only a natural continuation on your personal pathway IMO.

Great ideas, hrstrat! You're definitely in for an autographed copy. And if the EpicSki team is up for it, I'd be all over it being an option for a "premium" when members become supporters.

Definitely contact Lito for quotes! He gave me an exquisite paragraph for my book, and he is currently putting together a cover quote. Kritin Ulmer and Claire Walter were also awesome, as well as Mary Jo at Winter Feels Good.

As far as the subtitle, I also like Mastering Life Through Grace on Snow.

Keep in mind that our publisher absolutely loves personal stories about how the sport can transform people's lives, so if you have something unique to tell, you should definitely contact SSH. That's what distinguishes these books from the thousands of other ski technique or sport fitness books on the market. Also, given that they are grounded in a specific sport or activity, they differ from some of the typical quasi-mystical New Age stuff that is on the market.

Thanks, Lisa... right on. Think "self-help" shelf rather than the other places you might find it.
