I've been skiing and teaching on the MB5's for two years in all conditions and terrain and I have to say that the MB5 is by far the most versatile ski I have ever skied. I've skied the M11B5 and it just is not the ski that the b5 is. More forgiving, yes, but less stable and less precise. I don't want to argue with Phil, but I couldn't disagree more.
Ski (the MB5) it short, ski in the bumps, ski it in the trees, and the steeps and pow, and just keeps on working no matter what is thrown at it. It skids just fine too. From pivot slips to wedge turns to short swing turns, no problem.
Not that the M11B5 isn't a good ski, but there is a reason the MB5 has returned unchanged for three years. I did order a pair along wiht a pair of snoop daddy's because I should at least ski atomics latest models (i'm atomic pro staff) so I can discuss them with people. Maybe I will change my mind, but I doubt it. I'm not selling my MB5's.
