Atomic M:9

Any one here skied the M:9 ? I was wondering how it compares to the M10 & M11. The reason why I'm considering the M9 is because I can get a deal on a pair right now.

It's a ski that I'm considering for my son 5'6" 125 lbs level 6-7. He's currently on the K2 Enemy 162, which he likes, but they're getting kinda beat up. Any length suggestions? He's about 50/50 (groomers/offpiste), not a park rat.

M:9: Very nice underated ski
M:10: Shape of the M:9 construction of the M:11
M:11 The aggressive shape makes a nervous ski

IMHO the M:10 is the best of the three, with your son being as light as he is, the M:9 will be a fine ski for him. Go for it.

What Phil said!!

Oh.....with the additional suggestion of getting him a 164.

Skied the M9 all last season, really like it. Will do it again this season. Side benefitt is doing leg lifts on the lifts with skis on of course, nice work out.

Agree with Phil that the M10 is the best of the bunch. Can't you get any deals on that one?
Jim suggested 164cm which probably is better for off piste and will serve him better as he gets larger, otherwise 157cm for the here and now assuming he doesn't spend more thatn 50% of his time off piste.

I skied the M9 and M10 two seasons ago. I liked both. Found the M9 to be easier to ski and more forgiving. The M10 was "sharper," & more exciting....but I was pretty tired after a full day.

BTW, I'm 5'11'' 155 lbs. Level 7ish. Skied both in 164.

Wiz:

In case you decide on an M-9 and happen to decide upon a 164, I found one pr. still available in that size for $329 w/bindings. The link is below.

Ignore the caption that says it is '04-'05. It is an '05-'06 in the blue/gold color w/device 3:10.

I think I saw a msg in the forum saying that the Metron Balanze 11 was the same ski as the M:9? Can anyone out there confirm this? You can find the women's model for quite a bit cheaper.

SJ,
Any deals on the M9's for a fellow bear?

Yes they are, but they are going for basicly the same price on the streets.

There are differences in the mounting of th e B11 which is farther forward than the M9, and the B11 has a 3mm forward sloping ramp on the plate also. Typical of a womens specific ski. A person may or may not notice this. Many will feel it initiates easier. Later, RicB.

thanks guys for the info.... you don't see too many reviews on the M9 but the B11 has been quite favourably reviewed for women. It sounds like a great ski for a lighter weight skier

Hi wizard,

If you decide to go with the 157, I've got a mounted pair for sale which are nearly new. See http://forums.epicski.com/showthread.php?t=45988 .

Thanks,
Adam
