Emerils Orlando endorsement

Just got back from a family trip to Disney. A lot's changed since I was there last in 72 or was that 73 . It's an empire for sure at this point.

Anyway for my in-laws 40th we took em to Emerils at Universal. My father-in-law is from where Emeril's from - Fall River Ma so he recognizes the places Emeril used to eat and such.

Great experience - tremendous wine list, menu superb, all in all a near flawless dining experience. Not cheap btw but worth it. They even threw in extras for the occasion like a dessert tray, some Scottish salmon appetizers - great night to top off a great vacation!

Calamari appetizer was "kicked up a notch" in Emeril fashion.

"Creole Marinated Calamari Fried and Served with a Smoked Tomato Sauce, a New Orleans Style Olive Salad and Parmigiano Reggiano Cheese "

Also had a scallop appetizer special with the sweet potato and andouille hash that was great.

My inlaws each had the ribeye with carmelized balsamic glaze (special - not listed on the web)

I had the roast duck with root mash. Decadent and tasty.

"Hickory Smoked Duck With a Bourbon-Caramel Glaze, Cane Syrup Whipped Root Vegetables, Shallot Smothered Haricots Vert and a Blackberry-Balsamic Reduction Sauce"

Wife had the beef rib - cut it with a fork and soo tasty

"Slow Braised Beef Short Rib With a Sweet Corn, Spinach and Brie Cheese Flan, Green Beans and Pan Juices"

Kid had pizza - he's a pizza freak at this point

"Wood Oven Pizza with Tomato Sauce and Mozzarella Cheese"

For wine, a nice Gewerstrauminer with the appetizer and Washington state Merlot with dinner (yeah yeah I know but this one was no light weight .

Dessert was the tray plus a vanilla flan creme brulee ... great topper for the night!

Yes, we had a very good dinner there as well. I liked it as much as either of his restaurants in New Orleans. The banana cream pie is unbelievable!

If you go back to Universal, take the private behind the scene tour. It is really interesting and you get to cut all the lines.

I ate at Emeril's resturant in New Orleans, I think it was named America? I thought it was very good, but I'm no gourmet .
