Loveland/A-Basin (10/26 - 10/31)

I'll be laying over in Summit County on my way back home from a biz trip to CA. Perfect timing to get my new boots fitted, make some early season turns, and catch up with friends!

Sounds like more terrain is opening this weekend! Anyone else planning to get out and enjoy it?

Lets go skiing!

Hey Chris,

I'll definitely ski on Saturday and Sunday (10/28-10/29) -- let's make some turns. Today at Loveland was superb: http://forums.epicski.com/showthread.php?t=45701

See you in a week!

Oh man, why did you do that to me Faisal? It is going to be very hard to connect thru Denver to CA in the morning! As always, great writeup and pics!!!

We'll linkup next weekend then ...where do you have a pass for?

Best,

Chris

I have a pass to A-Basin, but also have the Loveland Card, so can do either one.
Hi all,

I will be in Denver from tomorrow Tuesday until Sunday morning. Currently, I have plans to go to A-Basin on Saturday and it seems to be looking pretty good.

Hopefully, I will run into some of you guys over there....

So where is everyone going to go, A-Basin or Loveland? I was planning on hitting up A-Basin, Sunday for the anual Manus skis like poop day (1st day of the year).

Also, does anyone know if I can get a replacement for my CO Pass at A-Basin, or do I need to get to A-Bay via the long way (looping through Vail to get a new pass - I'm in Steamboat, so going through Vail adds a bit to the trip).

Manus,
I don't know about your Colorado Pass replacement, but I'll be at A Basin on Sunday. (Ski like crap part DEUX) I'd bet others, though, will be at Loveland because it's so much less crowded.
Manus- last year you could not get a CO pass renewal (or anything related to maintenance of the pass) at the Basin since they are not actually part of Vail Resorts, but have a shared pass agreement with them. I assume that the same holds true this year, but you should call to be sure.
Manus- you can go to Keystone to get the replacement. I did it a few years ago... the office is pretty close to Kickapoo's restaurant at the River Run base area.

So what's the plan for Saturday and Sunday? Chris, where are you planning to ski? Like I said, I'm good with either Loveland or the Basin. The crowds may be less at Loveland. Anyone else planning to go up? Noodler, ssh?
I'm planning on Loveland on Sunday for Pro Demo Days. I think ssh is planning on Loveland Sunday also, if he has something to drive. I heard that he blew the clutch in his car today driving up to get boots fitted by Jeff Bergeron. I appears that his boot fitting adventure is delayed a bit.

I can ski either A-Basin or Loveland on Friday and Saturday.

Sorry for the delay in responding ...been traveling since Sunday. However, I'm in Summit now with new boots as of today and going skiing at Loveland tomorrow (Thursday.)

For the weekend, it sounds like the plan is Loveland for Sunday so how about ABasin for Saturday.

Any chance Loveland would work for you on Sun, trouble?

dp, what day were you available? ...where do you want to go.

Anyone skiing Fri, Mon, Tue?

Looking forward to some turns ...see ya soon,

Chris

Oh. My. God. Lotta snow up there. Chris, you lucky dog.
Sorry I can't join you guys at Loveland; my visa card has to go on a diet so I need to stick with the 5-mtns or copper. Thanks though!

With my Loveland Card, I can get you a ticket for $31.

Hi Chris- Not fair- I am stuck in the OR today while you get all of the fresh powder! I'm on call on Sunday , so I am off on Monday. I have a pass for A-Basin, and a 4 pack for Loveland, so it's your choice- where ever conditions are best.

Hi,

Does anybody has any suggestions on how to get discounted Loveland lift tickets for this Sat?

4-packs have to be mailed and I will not be able to get them on time.

Thanks

If anybody's going up from Denver tomorrow (A-Basin or Loveland) or Sunday (Loveland), and wants to carpool, PM me. Usually meet at the T-Rex lot around 7-7.15.

Since I've been I've heard several times there is less terrain available at the Basin and crowds are worse. Loveland had chairs 1 & 6 open today and it looks like 2 will be rolling tomorrow.

Is it okay to change the plan to Loveland for Sat & Sun??? List your objections, otherwise, see you at Loveland in the morning near the ski school desk.
I vote for Loveland as well. I'll be at the cafeteria around 8.15. See you there. I'll bring the camera.

How was the skiing today?

Is anyone interested in carpooling up on Monday? Faisasy?
I'm thinking Loveland Sunday (demo day), and might make a few turns Sat afternoon, but nothing set in stone. Any way to set up another meet time for Sunday as well as I know I'm most likely not going to be there that early coming from the Boat (unless I drive in to ski Sat and find a cheap place to crash Sat night).

I'm wondering if a lunch-time-ish meet up would be possible too.

Also, for those of us (me particuarly), how would we know who each other is? I know I have not met anyone from on here, and chances are if I'm out plain clothed (non-instructor garb) that you guys would prob think I was just another punk kid on the snow.

Borrowed a friend's Jeep and will be at Loveland Sunday morning. I'm going to head out about 1pm to go see Jeff so he can work on the boots Sunday afternoon (I'm planning to ski them in the morning).

I hope to see many of you there!

Check out the pics from Loveland in the Trip Reports forum to see cgeib, mike_m, and others. Check out LGC II thread for pics of others (including me).

It'll be great to meet you!

Wow, your fit must be remarkably different. Not a chance I could have done that. I'll have some Motrin in my ski bag!!!! See ya Sunday.
I'm going to try them. But, if they don't work out, it'll be fun for you all to watch me try to pry my feet out of them, I'm sure!
Chris, are you guys out at Loveland again tomorrow (Tuesday)? There's a good chance I'll be able to come out for the morning. Meet around 8:45 in the cafeteria?

Well, unfortunately I am back home this evening with the looming prospect of returning to work in the morning ...considerably less fun than the turns I was making this morning

Thanks to all the Bears and friends that came out to share some turns this past week! I hope you all had as much fun as I did in the incredible October conditions at Loveland.

Hope to see you all again real soon

Chris
