yes i also hate the waiting game, but in the off season il either be found kiteboarding, whitewater canoeing or mountainbiking. So life is good until you get to this point where its gettin pretty cold and you really wanna ski.:

Here's how we 'deal':

That and hanging out here and on Nastar.com and reading/drooling on ski mags until they're big mushy blobs, and waxing/tuning/repairing skis.

It's tough

This will be my 5th year skiing and every year my impatience for the season to start begins earlier than the last one.

I'm already on Epicski.com! In October!

I'm in pain. Bring the freakin snow to New York state right now.

I want a cataclysmic winter on the east coast, nothing but blizzard after blizzard. Let's start today and have the last blizzard in April.

I'm not asking for too much am I?

I know your pain aswell I love riding my bike and climbing, but nothing compares to hitting that first day on the slopes.

I feel as though I'm the only one who doesn't mountain bike, surf or whatever. The only sport I do is Ski and I love it.

Now that it's almost november and Ski season opens here in Ontario in mid-december it's worse than the summer because it's sooo close.

I have driven my wife nuts talking about skiing now I have to wait in silence.

I'm having California closets installed in my apartment. The folks constructing it said they could fit my skis in. I said, "WHY? I WANT them resting on my bedroom dresser drawer, so I can see them every day and night!"

A real skier would sleep with them.

Perhaps Jim was willing to keep that detail 'in the closet'.

My buddy is a master carpenter/installer for them. They do nice stuff.

He's been in Manny's place, Tom Brady's place etc.

They can prolly make you a bed in the closet if you need it (talking about skiing too much or whatever . Some of the closets they do are bigger than my master BR....

Thanks for the laughs! LOL

Counting down the days....

I take the advice of many others and I go fly a (traction) kite!
Th@ + rollerblades + multiple soccer fields = wee
I have yet to buy a dual purpose (land & water) traction kite, so I do not kite-board ... yet.

I also:
- do around 20 scrambles & some hikes during the hot season.
- play a lot of disc-golf

Do yourself a favor and pick up a mountain bike! It cures the itch for skiing in the Summer. Mud will become your "Summer powder", rock gardens are like mogul fields. Seriously, the adrenaline rush is very similar and it keeps you in shape for ski season.

That said, the last MTB ride is around the corner and first tracks are right behind it.

Well said and good advice from a fellow Mtn biker.

Side note: the snow is falling in the Sierras!

I think matt has it wrong dry is like powder and mud is like Ice still fun but not as fun as powder.

With that said I was out yesterday in the monsoon riding my bike. Fun as hell.
