Snow storms OK. Ice and snow ...... and blasting sleet ...
Kid and I went to Stratton for a spring outing on his new race skis. First day was 70 degrees and the pond skimming, the T-shirts and shorts .... bikins ...
Second day it went down to twenty with a wierd "inversion" somewhere "up there". The wind was howling and it would snow .... then sleet .. all with the wind blasting. But we kept going and it got worse.
My goggles iced (it was so bad I actually used them, a rare moment). No problem, since I had anticipated this and had a spare. They iced solid too.
It gets worse.
I wear a contact lens in my left eye and had laser (kinda botched), in the left eye. The wind was so bad it was a fight to keep the lens in so I couldn't open my left eye.
The right eye that had laser is hyper-sensitive to snow or anything like sleet ..... it felt like needles every time a "flake" or sleet pellet hit it.
With near zero visibility we missed a trail and ended up at a mid-lift and the lifty was amazed to see anyone at all since no one was that stupid to be out in this.
There were a total of four of us out "skiing" ..... before they shut down. We did get lots of "first tracks" on every trail though.
