I agree, that without the skier, the "wheels" mean nothing.
But, when you look at the WC pedigree of Atomic and Lange, they've outstripped everyone else - by a wide margin. Hence, gear must count for something.
Even though Bode won national races on K2 (proving that "shape" skis were for real), he didn't win WC races on them.
K2's another example of a hugely successful rec brand that virtually doesn't exist on the circuit.
If Bode CAN bring racing glory to head, it'll be the best investment Head has made since metal top-sheets in the 60's.
IMO, Bode had little to offer Atomic. They're already racing legends.
