Lange sizing question

My brother is looking at some Comp 120's on ebay and noticed a peculiar thing about the listed size...The size states "senior 11.5". I was wondering what's the difference between "senior" and normal?

I couldn't find anything about this on Lange's site.

Thanks in advance.

I think that is just the adult size, go by the boots sole lenght, (334mm?) not by the US, EU, mens, ladies, jr, or senior size listed

Be careful with the Lange's. I tried on the same boots and they really pinched my feet. I thought I had narrow feet before I tried these boots.

Buy Langes a full size smaller than that to which you're accustomed. They will feel horrible. Then have a [GOOD] bootfitter punch, grind, and otherwise modify them. By the end of the season, they will feel like a second skin.

Mine: Lange Comp 120 MF.

mmmm, mmmm, good

Oboe is correct. Mine packed out the worst (120MF) of any boot I have ever owned. Sold em after 1 season.

The 120MF is not a narrow boot.

They are damn warm though.

You silly goose! After they pack out, you go back to a GOOD boot fitter like Benny Wax at Inner Bootworks (Mountain Road in Stowe in the same building with the Pinnacle, or at Smuggs at the Pinnacle) and he makes them fit like they were new - AND with materials that do not pack out.

No Thanks, Switched to Salomon X2 Plug & then Head RD 96 plug, NO PACKY!

Believe what you will, Atomicman, I believe that they all pack out sooner or later and that sizing at purchase is the requisite first step. It took an entire season to get my Langes packed, and with the non-packable supplement, and I expect them to fit as beautifully after this season as they do now - perfectly.

My question exactly!

And I will believe what I want. Should I beleive you or my feet? I skied 150 days in my X2's & buckled them in the same place as when they were new. (If you ever looked at an X2 liner, you would see there is nothing to pack out, thin, thin ,thin).

Head so far the same.

I wear a 27 shell in the plugs and wore a size 9 in the120 midfit. I might also add, the liners of my Langes leaked Flo horribly. Lange replaced the liners on warranty. I sold them with new liners and did not want to go there again. The Lange was the first boot I have ever owned that the flo leaked out of the liner. Quality?????

Additionally, I did not care for the Langes stance. The Head boot is far superior (read upright) and the construction (read this boot is built like a tank) buckles and liner are top notch!!!!

the Lnages buckles broke also.

Bottom line is if Langes fit you well, you will never buy a boot that isn't a Lange again. Also, its not really fair to compare Salomon and Head plug boots to a Lange non-plug. If you want to make a fair comparison, use a Lange plug.

The Lange fit me fine. I was not impressed with the boot on any level.

Not fair? When did this become a competiton? I was just telling him what & why I switched to after the packing out issue Iexperienced with the Midfit 120.

Understand the the Lange 130 is a different last and completly different liner! they used to make a 130MF but it was only available in europe. maybe they have it here now. Much superior boot to the 120.

The guy was asking about packing out. Plugs don't pack out like retail boots do. If he wants to try a Lange plug it's cool with me. By the way the Lange retail boot is nothing even remotely like the race boot. Althought they try to infer the retail boot is some kind of WC boot.

Your comment about once in a Lange (if it fits) you will never change?

How about all the athletes (and not just Atomic sponsored racers, a bunch of them) who switched from Lange to the Atomic RT & that is a plug to plug comparsion, since you apparantly wanted to turn this into some kind of a pissing match!

So I'll just come right out & say it! the Lange 120 MF fit was an overpriced piece of junk. I'll never buy a Lange again!

Thank's for all the advice/oppinions on Lange boots, but I wasn't asking for advice on the boot itself...Just was curious about the "senior" thing.

These boots aren't being considered for me, for my brother who wears a street size 12.5 and has always had Lange boots, despite the fact that our feet are almost identical and I can't stand the typical Lange fit...He loves it.

FYI. I wear a street size 12, sometimes 11, and wear by ski boots between 27.5 and 28.5. Current boots are Dolomite Rage X10's in 28.5 and Tecnica Diablo Mags in 27.5, so I do like a tight fit, just don't like that fit to squeeze the living sh*t out of the sides of my feet like Langes do...This doesn't seem to effect by brother although.

I use to ski Langes back in the 80's and 90's, and just put up w/the pain, but find that as I get older I just can't take it anymore.

My original idea w/this thread wasn't to have a bootfitting discussion or a "this boot is better than that" discussion either.

My comments weren't aimed at anyone in particuliar, just about the direction the thread has taken.

You will find people just as polarized about Lange products as you are about Atomic/Head/Salomon products (FYI, I love Salomon boots in general)...Hell, I've been criticized heavily about my Dolomite Rages, and I never would have considered them in the past either, but after trying them I would have to say they are one the best boots I've ever been in.

I wasn't taking your comment personally. Just commented on my comments. I didn't ever say this guy should try heads or Atomics or Salomon. Just saying in general retail boots pack out a lot. And commented on what I did about it! And thought my poor experience with Lange may be helpful Although they did warranty the liners!!!

No offense taken...I do agree w/you about plugs, I've just never been able to totally justify getting some.

Never owned a pair of Tecnica Icon Carbons, huh?

Fortunately, I bought them (Icon Carbons) very tight when new, but they are sloppy after a couple of short seasons and one full season. I switched to the Race XT in the same shell size and I can't see it packing out...nothing to pack (as you stated about your Salomons).
