Westmalle Triple.

Severely miss those times living in Brussels, BE. Want to get back there...take the same overnight train to Courchevel for extended weekend trips. Staying at Les Albroges(sp) at 1300/Le Praz. Snow wasnt as good as out West, but mountains for miles and the best beer in the world at your fingertips was amazing.

Just had a glass or two of Pouilly Fume 2005 Domaine des Rabichattes with dinner.

I am now on the Borges port I brought back from Porto. It is nice, but not expensive stuff. With the new airline security rules on liquids, you cannot take bottles as hand luggage and I would not be keen to have an expensive bottle in a suitcase.

Just opened a Shiraz - Guigal Cote Rotie La Mouline from 2000. I'm usually not a big fan of the Syrah, but this particular bottle is going down easy and melds well with the venison steaks we're tearing into.

Just poured a glass of Laphroig. The perfect fix to a gloomy fall afternoon. I love the way the aroma fills the room when you pull the cork. When I finish this bottle, I'll start on the 1989 Brucchlaiddich I bought at a duty-free a year ago. I've been warily circling it ever since.

Right now, an extremely average demi-bouteille of Cotes du Rhone in a hotel bar in Tignes Val Claret.

It has an almost indefinable aroma, redolant of a pile of used socks in the corner of a sports changing room; sometimes confused with a Holy wine, given that the automatic reaction to drinking it is a startled 'Jesus Christ ...'

Conn Creek Anthology 2002. Scored a special two-for one deal from one of my distributors on Tuesday and it was delivered today. Bought a couple of cases for the restaurant and one for home. My cost, $22.10 per bottle. Buahhhh ha ha ha ha ha!

Thomas Hardy ale brewed by O'Hanlons, now that Eldridge Pope no longer brew. Seems to be available in the US too.

11.7% alcohol. So it is not a session beer. Numbered bottles with the year of production on the label. Mine is number 17770 from 2006

I did not have the patience to cellar it for a decade. Apparently it keeps and matures for up to 25 years.

I wish we could still buy Courage Imperial Russian Stout. That was a superb little beer.

Right Now; A decent Cabarnet Sauvignon on sale at our local wine shop.
Doppelbock- definitely an acquired taste. Too heavy for me.

I am breaking my usual no-carbs vow for Hoegaarden Witbier, a belgian white wheat ale with a touch of coriander and orange peel.

If you are going to break a vow this is a great way to go.
