whoa! I am going to look for this one^
report when you can
For you beer lovers...........
But Finndog, it's not everyday the WHOLE world drinks beer with us. We will be in Lake Placid sometime Friday. Suggestions for an appropriate local brew much appreciated.
@ Jimmy; We dont need the whole stinkin' world to drink with us! Since you are in NY, I would suggest some nice Ommegang Beers? their BPA, Witte, Rare VOS and others are all excellent
Also, look for the Maine Beer Company beers! These are some of the best beers going right now. Look for "Lunch", Mean ol' Tom, or anything they brew, These beers are phenomenal. Brooklyn Beer is also some great stuff, Suracci Ace, Local 1 or 2.
Seg: a brownie in a can? Hmm... Not sure if this was a good thing?
Cstreau: yes, that Ommegang, I am going to look for it but I will be up in colorado until mid september or longer. Its limited there.
Buy another, put it away and forget about it for a year to so. They turn in to a damn Delicious barely wine. The more and more I think about it the more I believe that Firestone Walker could be the best brewery in the US right now.
I am going to have to try the HW OMG in a Manhattan, I think that may be it's true calling in life. I just need to pick up some fresh vermouth.
Glad you got some Wookey dawg, nice way to celebrate IBD.
We've been on the road, didn't make Lake Placid Friday, but had a couple of Black Jack Oatmeal Stouts for with lunch
at Ellicottville (NY) Brewing and a dirty martini for a knight kap in Albany.
I think it is probably the most well rounded stout I've ever had. I just wish it wasn't so darned expensive.
***at the risk of having beer bottles tossed at my head and being ostracized,
i'll have to up my courage and say it:
i've given up drinking now for 2 months straight! and i'm proud of it, too, am hoping to give it up for good..
now high grade whole bean coffee and loose leaf teas are my 'drink of choice'
do i miss beer and wine ?
yes and no
(hell i used to be a fine dining server PT for many yrs so i do know my wines too)
yes sometimes i miss the taste and the buzz...but that is precisely what i don't miss either in my attempt to lose weight
and get healthy again (have lost 20 now and have another 25ish to go) . i honestly feel so
much better, sleep better, eat better, energy levels are much more consistent, along with motivational levels.
...and that is what i remember..i honestly (after the first 3 wks) dont' crave it anymore: all i have to do is just have to remember
all that it did NOT do productively for me.
i'm one of those that do 'portion control' of certain food groups, so instead, say, of having 1-2 glasses
of wine or a few beers i'd have 3 glasses of wine and 3 beers...and who wants to go hiking or do something
productive after that? ..and this could be each or every other night...or on wkends i'd 'rationalize'
being clean mon-friday and then i'd overdo it....some things you don't mind having a 'complicated' relationship with: and
booze is not one that i wish to have such...so am trying to give it up for GOOD (to each their own).
luckily i live in awesomely gorgeous BC (vancouver) and have substituted sitting at home drinking wine/beer
with hiking after work the lovely north shore valley/mountains.
...so now it's my loose leaf high end teas (greens, oolongs, assams etc) and having fun with my new breville
'smart grinder' for getting into better grades of coffee (also bought an aeropress, cool!)
so cheers, as i raise my cup of tea or coffee.
DSloan will like to hear this. We were just talking about Stranahans.......yup, she'll be very pleased.
