Sorry no pictures as I left my laptop stateside so just using my iPhone to check in occasionally.

You are too funny!  Cheers my friend. I wish I was there to join you for that pint. Sounds awesome.

Ira suggested this beer a while back but I just found it. Its Rayon Vert from Green Flash Brewery in San Diego. Its a similar beer to Orval but even better.

This is now my favorite summer beer by far and I could easily drink this into the winter. A pale ale that is not overly hoped and is slightly sour. Superb balance of hops, citrus, malt, alcohol and everything else you expect to find in a pale ale. The addition of the "brett" yeast makes this unique IMHO, adding that barnyard funk.

Its bottle conditioned and is on the high-side of carbonation so be very careful when swirling around to dislodge that good stuff. I had a minor explosion on my first bottle.

I almost picked up a six pack of Weyerbacher Verboten last night.  It too is a Belgian style pale ale.  I was little worried by dust that was on it and would love have been able to just buy one bottle but if its anything like what you described I might just take a chance.

The Verboten is a super DRY very citrusy beer. Its definitely worth a try. However: I would take the Rayon Vert over the Verboten any day.

I'm scared...very scared.  I was going to try this tonight but there's no sense in ruining my anniversary and National Bourbon Day if it turns out to be awful to me.

Since its a national day, all good citizens should abide by the decree......  I am thinking a splash of Blantons tonight while watching the Open

OK, I watched this. I donno, any beer described as smelling sweaty then it tastes intensely sour...   yeah, its bourbon for me....  Let me know how this one works out for you.

Well, at at least you didn't buy a keg of the stuff.  The video review was hilarious. The guy was doing every thing he could not to grimace and stay upbeat...sweat!  LOL!  "but in a good way"  roflmao.gif

Had a ten year old Laphroaig and half a pint of Guiness while watching a Spain v Ireland match at a pub on the Thanes while waiting to board the London Eye. Sipping on some peach schnapps and club soda now.

Are trying to puke?  wink.gif

OK, rule here that must be obeyed.  No half pints for men!  I learned this on one of my trips to Ireland when at a local pub a tourist ordered a half pint; the bar keep refused to serve him Guiness in a half pint.  Only for women he said.. Rules.gif

The scotch and half pint were three hours before the schnapps. I'd never had Guiness before so I only wanted to try half a punt as I'm not much of a beer man.

I don't know; after drinking a bottle of Laphroig (aged in bourbon casks btw), you might think he had had enoughth_dunno-1[1].gif.  Maybe he had to drive somewhere?

International Beer Fest

I was wrong though,it only got a bronze. It was their Roebling Porter that won gold...it is very good.

The Lambic does score fairly well on www.ratebeer.com and www.beeradvocate.com

Now in honor of National Bourbon Day I decided a celebratory bourbon was in order so I am enjoying 2004 Old Forrester Birthday Bourbon. It's not one of the smoothest I've had but with a little ice it becomes pretty enjoyable.

Ok my curiosity got the best of me. There is nothing sweaty about it. It is deferentially different. It is citrusy and a little acidic. It is nicely effervescent..almost champagne like. Actually the fizz is similar to Goose Island Sofie.

Infected beer!

Got to do a little Elijah Craig on crushed ice with friends tonight to finish the old bottle.  That works for National Bourbon Day.

A little mint simple syrup and a lotta bourbon makes a mighty fine Mint Julep.

Had a 12 y/o Glenlivet and some Makers Mark and a hard cider while watching the England match from a bar in Canary Wharf tonight (amazing atmosphere). Also sampled a 12 year Glenfiddich back at "home" tonight.

Nope no driving involved Finn / Ghost just don't care to drink all that much.
