THAT LOOKS TASTY  Here's one I tried last weekend and really enjoyed but you have to gently stir in the setiment at the bottom.  Weyerbacher Blanche, a witte beer that is very good.

COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Blanche is a thirst quenching beer that combines character and flavor with a moderate alcohol content. Just try a bottle. In the nose you'll notice spiciness from the coriander seeds and dried curacao orange peels added during the boil. In the mouth you'll find a mild and refreshing ale with a hint of dryness from the wheat ingredients. A clean finish follows with just a hint of tart spiciness.

Its cold rainy, yucky here today.  Hot cider with a smudge of bourbon is just what the dr ordered.

Longshot Five Crown Imperial Stout...mmmm.  Already buzzed.

Damn!  Look at that dude's face!  No wonder he needs strong beer.

I'm not just a beer and whiskey drinker.  I had a great bottle of Merlot with a friends over dinner this past weekend.  Sterling Vineyards Napa Valley 2009.  I tend to like cabs and pinot noir over merlot but its was a very very good bottle.  I guess we need to spend more than $6 on a bottle for me to enjoy it.  We also shared a bottle of Frei Brothers Pinot Noir which was good but not nearly as good as the merlot.

Tonight its WTF...Langunitas Whiskey Tango Foxtrot jobless recovery ale.  Its interesting. A hint of malty sweetness but at 59 IBU's its definitely hoppy too.

Usually. I figure i've got a good shot at finding a nice red at $15 and $10 for fish wine.

There are a few red blends I really enjoy...Apothic Red and Cupcake Red Velvet...both come in around $10-12.  We drink a lot of red during ski season and the problem with merlot has always been that I don't usually buy them and the friend that does is a cheap SOB.

I am partial to older Bordeaux but for newer reds, I like Syrahs and some Zins. For white blends this time of year, I really like Caymus Conundrum.

Just scored my 4th bottle of Founders KBS!  THese will sit for about a year, well, maybe I will have to open one this winter with Ira. This is one of those beers that is rated as a perfect 100 by every beer rating site. These are very hard to come by so if you see them, grab them.

$10.95 here but yes, I understand there is a pretty good market for resale on these.

Wow... I wonder what Founder's CBS is going for?  My local beer store got 12 bottles total and they are one of the top sellers of Founders in the country.  They opened at 6:00 to sell it and there was a line of about 30 or so people trying to score a bottle.

I ran out of CO2 so I have to settle for what I have in bottles...well sort of.  I stopped and picked up a 6 pack of Rivertown Wit Ale tonight.

WIT ALE-  (RELEASED IN APRIL)  WITH IT'S COMPLEX HERBAL AROMA, GOLDEN CLOUDY COLOR, ORANGE-CITRUSY FRUITINESS, AND SPICY FLAVOR, OUR BELGIAN STYLE WIT BEER IS SURE TO SATISFY. CONTAINS WHEAT MALT, SPICY HOPS, ORANGE PEELS, FRESH CORIANDER, AND LEMON ZEST. BEST SERVED AT 42ºF IN A TALL PILSNER GLASS WITH A SLICE OF ORANGE. 5.1% ABV, 4 SRM, 15 IBU

I am quite impressed.  Its similar to Sierra Nevada Kellerweis and thats not a bad thing.  I wish they sold it well in to the summer because it would make a great warm weather brew.  The best part is that it is brewed locally...well down the road in Cincinnati anyway.  The guys at the brewery are super cool as well.  I'm hoping to stop by and sample their Roebling Porter on nitro.  I have it here at home on CO2 and its great and I think nitro would add a whole new dimension to it.

I'm not drinking anything. I'm watching Prohibition on PBS and apparently alcohol is very bad. I'm learning a lot.

Depending on how this comes out, my bourbon and tequila collections may be in jeopardy.

Well, color me relieved.  I kept watching and that whole Prohibition thing got turned around - alcohol's okay now.  The people have spoken.  beercheer.gif

I was worried for a little while.  They sure painted a grim picture...which just made me want a drink.

Hendrick's gin and Blue Sky tonic, a little lime slice and lots of ice.  Damn hot day to be digging post holes for coyote fencing.

Nice to see that prohibition stuff didn't get you down for long Bob!

You might want to try some of the Summer Shandy for post hole digging.  I actually found some on tap last night...at a Thai restaurant.  Goes great with Pad Thai!

Had a pint of Fullers London Pride down by tower bridge around midnight with a friend of my dads and then a shot of Jose Cuervo Reposado when we got home around 1:30 AM. Have only slept around 7 hours since Monday morning but I've seen a lot of London. Time to hit the hay tomorrow's another long day. Sorry no pictures as I left my laptop stateside so just using my iPhone to check in occasionally.

I picked up my first sour beer tonight...Rivertown Brewing Company Lambic. It came home from the International Beer Fest with a gold medal so I decided to step out of my comfort zone and try something new. I will report back once I've tried it.

Seriously?  Why didn't I know this?  Is it too late to arrange a parade?

And fireworks, we're going to need lots of fireworks.

I'm just trying to figure why we don't have the day off work to celebrate.

I've been given the day off for sillier reasons than this. OK Right now I'm drinking bourbon and water without the bourbon frown.gif .
