But wouldn't this be a fabulous form of free advertising?

As I am from the left coast originally and a big city at that, I am a soda person myself. Not on this map, though, is "soda pop," which is what my father called it. I guess that could appear in the form of "other," but it's not fitting with his region. Who knows? Maybe he was just weird.

NO! quite the opposite, if the term is adopted to the public domain, the use of the trademark and all Copyrights is negated. it is the reponsibility of the company to defend its ownership of the word.  This is what happened to companies like "Xerox" and others.

Good point. I didn't think about it like that. Ohhh, poor Coke. I feel quite sorry for the multi-million (billion?) dollar corporation for all the money they must be losing. wink.gif

I've heard individuals around here use that term as well. It's like how they use the term "stair steps" to describe a flight of stairs. Its either stairs or steps not both. There is a radio commercial with an old guy talking about how he can walk up his stair steps again since starting some medication or exercise or something. I'm never sure if I should laugh or scream at the radio in frustration.

Trying to think of other brands this has happened with.  Kleenex.  ChapStick.

Back to our regularly scheduled program..

Just opened a White Birch, Red Farmhouse. Quite nice. malty, some spice (mild) A good food beer. Nice reddish orange color. A well-blanced beer. A bit of the farmhouse from the yeast but not nearly as much as a full on Saison.  From the looks of the reviews it's a love/mehh beer.  I really like this.  Would buy again. again, I think this is a beer that would go great with grilled foods.

Exactly. "I'll have a coke"... "what kind?" ... "Co'Cola." See, they are different words.

I decided to revisit this one tonight and continue to be impressed.  It is astoundingly drinkable for a beer with 106 IBU's.

Vodka Cranberry......I know its a girl drink, but its so refreshing for a nice end to the day on the patio.

I bought a 6-pack of Samuel Adams Longshot beers.  The first try was Derf's Secret Alt.  This was a real surprise with whiffs of caramel, sugar, banana and malt, and a huge malty taste that started a bit sweet then finished clean.  It has a 9.3% alcohol content.

Sitll have to try the Five Crown Imperial Stout and a Dark Night In Munich Dunkel. I had never tried the Longshot Contest brews, but if you get a chance to try them by all means pick it up.  These are very good.

sounds like Double?  I am always very wary of anyting from boston brewery.

going to Seltzer and lime now all week. Since I lost 5 pounds after not drinking for a week while on the lyrica I actually really like this as my go to drink now. A couple beers (2-3) on the weekend; that's it.

I haven't been impressed with much out of Boston either.  For a light beer Sam Adams Light isn't bad at all but then again it really isn't that light.  Their Imperial Stout isn't bad either.  It doesn't have any intense flavors but its just a good quality stout plus I can get it at the local grocery store.

The Longshot contest beers from SA are not like any other beer from that brewery.  All I can say is give them a try.  They resemble the homebrewer roots from which they come much more than anything mass produced.

Arnold Palmer Tea.

What's Arnold Palmer Tea?

(I know what an Arnold Palmer is)

Half sweet tea half pink lemonade.

Oh, I didn't realize Arnold Palmer now had a branded version of the actual product called Arnold Palmer Tea.

I always make my Arnold Palmers using Paul Newman lemonade and iced tea.  I guess that makes them Paul Palmers or Arnold Newmans.

Newman?

Not his own brand. I've gotten it from two different brands that just call it Arnold Palmer tea.

Anyone tried the Leinenkugel Summer Shandy?  It's definitely a refreshing beverage with a very light weiss undertone and overwhelming lemonade on top.  It won't be a go-to beer, but I kind of like it for a refreshing cooler.

Well, I'm sure he's getting royalties from both.  Nicely played by him.

Ever hear of a "John Daly" ?  It's an Arnold Palmer but with a shot of vodka.

I haven't tried the Linenkugel but you post brought to mind a trip to England about 20 years ago when we had shandy on a hot summer afternoon, and in the Cotswolds tried a local strong cider called scrumpy

Sitting on the front porch sipping some tap water, Skyping a friend in Costa Rica, and watching the heavy downpour of rain.
