Well, it IS Budweiser ... just don't anyone try to beat Jimmy.

not so much- sounds harmless but the combo is now fast becoming a major cause of OD deaths. The combo essentially slows breathing down to the point that a person can easily just fall asleep and never wake up.  This just happened to a 38 year old cousin.

at least it's not budlight, life's too short to drink lite beer.

Finndog, just sayin seltzer, lime & lyrica, weak brew.

Last night Peroni and Bocce, now that's a bad combination.

fortunately, I'm off it. It actually affected me more than oxy! Seriously nasty side effects. Still a little in my system but feeling much clearer.  Very hard to sleep last night after not taking it for 24 hours. I don't know if that was a kind of withdrawl type thing but I kept waking up every couple of hours with a racing heart. I hope not.

That probably depends on who you ask.

Ice water for the leg AND to drink!!! Feeling much better than I was yesterday. Can go for longer without pain pills and generally feeling more aware. That's not to say that 2am wasn't a ROUGH time. We'll see how tonight goes. For now, I will continue with my ice water and pain meds.

That looks tasty.

yeah, I like the looks of that label too.  Great carmel color; hows the hop level on that?

Ok throwing one out here to the veritable crowd of experts in this thread. Getting my dad a bottle of scotch for his anniversary next week. Should I go with the Laphroaig 18 year ($65) or the Laphroaig Quarter Cask? ($52)

I recommend the 18 year . . . however, if your dad likest the peaty stuff (which it seems he does if you're considering Laphroaig), you may also want to consider Lagavulin. Sorry to introduce another option. wink.gif

I'm pretty sure if someone juiced some peat moss it would be his favorite scotch in the world. I'll keep that in mind, but I know he is a big fan of Laphroaig so that was why I was going to go with that.

As is the case with most of the Bayern beers, the hops are balanced with the malts to give it a strong, smooth, full flavor, but without a bitter hook. I'm not a big fan of hop emphasized brewing; hops are essential, but they aren't the only flavor that makes great beer.

That's fair. Go with the 18 year then. And if you ever want to get him something a little different, try the Lagavulin.

BINGO!  I am not a IPA fan unless they are tame.  Right with you buddy.

Then you wouldn't like what I am drinking now....Sierra Nevada Hoptimum whole-cone imperial IPA.  Its bitter...real bitter.  100 IBU.  This is following one of the bigger disappointments I've had lately.  I picked up a bottle of Ommegang Witte last week and I had been looking forward to popping the cork.  As soon as I did I could smell the disappointment.  It was skunked.  Actually the taste was OK but it was a little skunky.  If the bottle of their Abbey Ale and Three Philosophers that I picked up today are OK I will give the Witte another try but I am a little worried now.

There was a new release of another peaty Islay, Ardbeg Corryvreckan. I don't know if you can find any but the last release won all kinds of awards among the single malt societies and raters.

Bad luck with the Witte. The 3 Philosophers is one of my husband's favorites and the Abbey Ale is good too, but the 3 Philosophers is a great beer in his opinion. Both too heavy and dark a flavor for my taste.

On the bright side I discovered that the local convenience store carries the Weihenstephaner Hefeweisen in 6 packs.

I decided to try the Three Philosophers tonight.  Its pretty good and not skunky like the Witte I opened.  Its not something I would want to drink all the time but its a nice change of pace from my normal selections.  I will be picking up another bottle of Witte to try.

Margarita

Four simple ingredients, one of which is ice, one of which is a fresh squeezed lime, the others ......Tequilla, and Patron Citronge.

goes well with fresh mango, and home made guacamole.

Its a great evening to enjoy the patio.

Are these both tequila? Or is the latter a liqueur?

Some mediocre white wine I opened to put into steamed PEI mussels. (It will be worth it)

The Patron Citronge is a sweet citrus/orange liquor.  (or is it liqueur?  I'm feeling really good)

You guys "encouraged" me to ditch the insipid white and make a marg. Ice, yes, tequila (jalapeno-infused), Citronge, and lemon. (Ran out of limes.) Oh, and a squirt of agave nectar. I am grateful.

Segbrown..........You're welcome!biggrin.gif
