DANO?

Surely it was Captain Renault! (said after Major Strasser was shot)

Old telly thing ..... "Hawaii Five O" ....

some of the US classic cop show lines were "Round up the usual suspects"

and .... "Book em' Dano, murder one!" .... Dano was the silent sidekick to the "hero" detective .... Jack Lord.

Yup, but the original quote that they stole was from Casablanca (and that's also where the film "The Usual Suspects" got its title)

Here endeth today's useless trivia.

OK Fox,
If you are into trivia, tell me where do we get the expression "Cold enough to freeze the balls off a brass monkey." ?

All right. I gotta do this. Did anyone notice at the Snowbird ESA Academy that there is a really weird resemblance between Charlie MacArthur (one of our great coaches) and Dano?

Kind of sad, really - I just read that a bear in Lyons everyone assumed was drunk a couple days ago was actually not intoxicated. She was dying, but the public was laughing. I don't think that's too funny. Vets euthanized her, but still don't know what made her sick.

The original answer was that the brass monkey was a tree used for holding canonballs used on ships. The balls were held in place with small amounts of wax, but if it got very cold the wax would degrade, and the balls would fall off.
I have since heard that this explanation is incorrect.

And it is no coincidence, either! (I restrained myself when this post was started, but Weems finally let the cat out of the bag.)

How very sad. RIP, little sick bear.

Oops, Weems beat me to the factoid about Charlie, son of Dano.
