Funny story about someone I caught poaching...
I was teaching a first-timer class with about 8 people in it, some were 1/2 day and some were full day. They were pretty successful in learning stopping and turning by the time we got to lunch, so I wrapped the lesson up for the 1/2 day students and told the all day students where to meet for the afternoon.
After lunch I met with the all dayers and started going again, when I noticed that one of the 1/2 dayers was still following us around. Not just off in the distance either but pretty close to the group on the beginner run, but eventually we got on to different timing with him and shook him off.
Near the end of the lesson this same poacher finds me and the class again. So I asked him how he was going and if he needed any further help. He then kindly presented his ticket for the afternoon class!
This "poacher" actually paid for the afternoon session, but he never said anything. He just lurked off to the side waiting for his feedback. I didn't say a word to him until the very end.
I apologized up and down that I should have asked him instead of assuming that he was just trying to scam some more time.
I felt real smart!
