Well, back in the day when I used to race on plastic a bit, I used to get my edges as sharp as possible for each run - they'll be rounded off after 4 turns on Dendix anyway. For the base, I would rub on that old Swix silver wax, trying to get it on in as thick a layer as possible. Then, 2 minutes before racing, I would spray on a thick layer of "Mr Sheen" furniture polish, for extra speed through the first 2 gates - which is at least 10% of the course.

which is a UK-based ski-racing forum. Most of the people here on EpicSki are Americans, who would be horrified at skiing on plastic bristles, as would most Calgarians!
BTW, is your son going to be skiing's answer to Owen Hargreaves?!
