Stuff that bugs me - Page 3

jury's out on the high speed's - yeah it get's ya up quicker, buttttt - it puts more people on my hill that I have to jump over!!!!!

I dislike:

Arrogant skiers who think everyone should be a born "ripper", and if they aren't, they should get the hell off of "their" mountain. Do these people remember what it was like when they were LEARNING???????? Standing at the top of a run, picking a line, overcoming a little trepidation, being Prepared: OR just gunning down it without checking it out-- what's the wisest move, ya think??? Why don't you guys let yourselves out the back door and go home? You're so good you don't need to ski any more.

People who don't get the idea of "Alternating" when there are 5-6 lines blending into one. Grrr.

Other than the occasional out of control skier (and that could be anyone at any time if equipment fails), I can handle anything. I'm just too damn happy to be ON SNOW to worry about the crap going on with other people.

Consolidated Dust? Buy! Amalgamated Lint? Sell!

Yeah, annoyances can be annoying.

Say, you know what nobody on this thread had to deal with last year?

Nobody had to decide between burning to death or jumping 100 stories to the pavement.

Oh, I'm sorry. Did I harsh someone's buzz?

I'm just trying to point out that a sense of perspective is a GOOD thing.

... those of you who think you are perfect are particularly annoying to those of us who are ...

What bugs me the most are the whiners and complainers who want to impose their standards on others, or who mask jealousy with contempt.

Do you mean, I'm not allowed to whine and complain about the quality of Guinness outside of Ireland, because the standard there is so much higher!

As for contempt masking jealousy, I could agree in some instances, but, for example, my contempt for SCSA is not masking jealousy, but is masking utter contempt.

Good point!

I know what you're saying, about 10 years ago there were times when I had to decide whether I risked driving through a town or not. Whether I should hang around with some friends or not, because of their jobs. It does give you a different perspective, and it made me value human life a lot more (even the lives of the people who perpetrated acts of violence and their supporters)

Which leads on to another pet peeve of mine:
People who tell me the answer to a problem, while not having much understanding as to what the problem actually is.

edit for spelling

My word you guys do get in a mess on the slopes don't you!
The most annoying thing is a big queue and then people are going on quads one at a time cos they want to go with their friends. What is that all about I mean christ they should be shot or at least pushed off or made to ski with someone who'll kill them. Can't see anything wrong with the smoking (anything) thing though. I don't smoke and never have but it certainly doesn't bother me all that much.
THE most annoying thing has to be all in one suits, I don't care what you look like, if you wear one of these you will have bulges somewhere if not everywhere and this isn't me having a go at fat people I am just having a go at anyone and everyone, why would you ever buy one when there are much nicer things on the market?!
I agree with mobiles on the mountain though but they can aid meeting up and I have used one on occasion I am sorry to say! I did know someone who was at uni really near a mountain so used to go skiing and ring in sick from the chair lifts which was mighty funny and well worth the use of a mobile in that case!
I also agree about the fat person abuse - it is bang out of order to have a go at people for size or anything else - tongue in cheek or not it can and is still taken to heart and really does hurt, just think of the worst thing someone could say to you and think how it would affect you even if they said it in jest. Preach over.
Have fun everyone ...

WTFH - uh... maybe, I did some travelling over there about 25 years ago and did have a fling with a young woman...

how are you son?
While I agree, that much of this {including my own comments } sounds pretty whiny, I think there's one point to consider. As has been pointed out on many occaisions, skiing is pretty expensive. Most of what has been spoken about here involves petty incidences amongst other skiers, but how much is this influenced by the fact that some ski areas charge top dollar, and give only McDonald's quality service?

WVS,
What do you mean, I was 7 when I was born?

Stop whinging. let's think of the snow.

Bonni,

Sorry for the erroneously implied arrogance. I am surely no ripper! See PM. It's about numbers, mostly. Too many people on the hill. We are becoming freeways at rush hour, and without the traffic control mentality - IT'S BLOODY DANGEROUS!!!
SCSA, would like to PM to you and yet.... you seem to have no "send PM" option on your entries. Am thinking you'll be monitoring this site, so how do I get in touch with you?

Miss Deer Valley is miffed that the insolent liftie wouldn't shut the noisy lift down, forcing her to remove her fur headband to hear her phone.
And don't even get her started with the unruly children.

It is a good thing I read all this thread through before I posted a very HOTcomment.

Thank you Oboe.

Next ..... epic,SCSA,and Carvermeister if you ever make comments like that about FAT people I will have your heads.

epic, that was rude and you should be tard and feather for doing that to those poor woman.

Carvemeister, Fat ugly people have feelings and rights too. I am NOT laughing.

SCSA, You should know better you have seen the Weight and Fitness thread!

Just for the Record, I am FAT and YES I SKI and as some guys found out last season, I can out ski them suckers and I put them in there place.
Even when I was skinny I defended fat people because my best friend had a weight problem all her life and because of people like YOU she has an eating disorder. I have tried for years to get her to do things to make her stronger (not skinner) and better in shape inside, but with MEN like you make her feel less like a person.

LAY OFF FAT PEOPLE NOW! : : : : end of Rant

Now.. I didn't send you a mean PM I sent you a link to this thread so I can have a reply back.

Acutally I posted my mad comment on the thread.

It just burns me, when I went skiing for the first time since I had my children last spring, I had a group of guys making FAT jokes. When I started to ski they stopped making comments, I could ski as or better then some of them.

Things that Bug Me.... People who make fun of others becuase they don't fit into that ski type.
It's different when it is your friend you are teasing but a complete stranger?(hence my husband and his crack flash which Pierre reminded me of)

I hope 15yrs later Epic that you would not do that to a person now?
