2006 Rossi Bandit B3 vs 2006 Rossi B3 ???

Forgive me...this is probably a stupid question but after looking up the 2006 Rossi B3's on skinet.com I got the impression that the 2006 Rossi Bandit B3's and the 2006 Rossi B3's were different skis. Is this the case? If so, what are the differences?

This came to a shock to me given that I thought I had done all my research and recently bought a pair of Rossi B3's at a local ski swap. I'm actually a little embarassed I didn't know, if it's true.

Any help would be appreciated.

All B3s are Bandit B3s. Where the confusion comes in is previous to 2006 the B3 was a fatter ski with less sidecut. The pre-2005/2006 B3 because the B4 last year. To make things even more confusing this year they changed the color of the B3 even though its the same ski as last year.

So...check out this link: http://www.skinet.com/skinet/gear/ap...&th is_page=2

This is where my confusion came from. The top 2 skis both say they are 2006 skis, though they are different colors. But you are saying that the more red ski is actually the 2007? Thanks again for your help.

The top ski has a picture of this year's model. The second one has a pciture of last year's. They're the same ski.

They have posted two reviews on the same model ski. One is probably last year's review, the other is probably this year's. Just a webmaster goof. There is no physical difference between '06 and '07.

Neither of those is this year's ski, at least cosmetically. This year's is green. BUT: Last year's was the brownish/orange with brownish/orange trims on the bases. I skied some of this year's last January and they looked the same as last years except the bases had green trims with the same topsheet. My guess is that, when I skied them, they hadn't made a decision on the topsheet and may not have when the skis were provided for that review. Also, both of those reviews show 2006 so it's very confusing as to how that came about.

In any case, last year's ski and this year's ski are in essence the same ski, different colors.

To further confuse the issue, I have 15 prs in stock with '07 serial numbers in the orange color.

I'm not aware of a color change.......but it IS a French company......:

dindar524, I also noticed color shading was different between September’s SKI and Skiing mag's. I spoke to a Rossi rep at a recent Denver sales event and he said the top sheet for 2007 remains the same (orangish...) but the base R graphic move from the orange to the green (GoldMember hit upon this I believe). Not sure if he was right regarding color, maybe someone will post the definitive, but as others have mentioned, same under the skin regardless of year. Oh, forget trying to get a best info on the Rossi web site, very poor that place.

Do check out the picture (and interesting article) on page 40 of September SKI mag, and you will find Ted Ligety lugging a pair of B3’s with Rossi Axial 2 140 TI PRO/WB bindings. At least that top skin color matches the B3’s I just waxed in my garage one hour ago. Enjoy the ride.:

SJ...do the 15 prs have a green base graphic?

Note; just viewed the '06-'07 Alpine poster lineup for Rossi with the Bandit B-Squad leading the group with it's green top skin followed by B3 as orange, B2 as blue, B1 as red. And I notice that the Rossi Boots are similarly colored with top model B-Squad green, Bandit B16 orange, Bandit B14 Blue and Bandit B12 red. Of course the women’s versions of the Bandits shaded differently.

Wow, not only am I confused, but being color blind certainly does not help.

For awhile they were showing both colors on their website for this year's ski. Now they only have green and the new b/c version, B3 Respect which is yellow. Of course there's also the women's version which is also yellow but not quite the same cosmetic. Go figure!

DonDenver, here's the website. It's been updated with the most current:

Yes, they have the green base inlay. One thing to remember is that when you see a pro rider in a picture, the picture could be 6-12 months old. Also, whatever color the flagship model was at the time of the shoot, is the color and graphic that rider is going to be on.

Regardless of what the ski really is.......:

I'm sure the other thing that might add to the confusion is they use different colours on some models in Europe, yet I believe some are also the same as N.A. Indeed Rossi's site sucks, it looks like they've done a decent job overhauling it from before, but it's all pointless if they can't get the ski info straight.

GoldMember; thanks for the updated site, now if I only take the time to update my flashplayer...

SJ; you caught me. Yes I'm a poser with my Rossi's. No matter how old the picture, I want to be just like Ted Ligety (or should I say I want his '07 contract money)

Finally, dindar524...work that deal, tell them your not one of those people into this years colors! Give them $75 bucks less for the old faded color and tell them they can count on you being a customer for life...well, ok...so it's not logical...but you never know...at least it will make them think:
