Cheap Helmet

My son will be coming home from college in Florida for a week of skiing after X-mas.

I have rule that everyone in our family wears helmets, but it has been a few years since he skied and his helmet no longer fits. I am not going to spend $120 on a helmet he will wear for five days and then might not use again. He will wear a size that nobody else in the family will wear.

Is there a certain brand of cheaper (yet safe) hemlet, or someplace in the Denver area where I can pick up a cheap helmet for him to use? Thank you

The Leedoms are a good price at Sierra but beware they run small. The Prophet is the one to get.

If you pay with Google Checkout you also get $10 off.

He has a large K2 Automatic now that is a little small. Would he need an XL or XXL leedom? Thanks

Buy a used one at a swap for $20-40.

I'd advise against a used ski helmet (or bike helmet) they are 'single impact' items. You can find a left-over helmet for under $50.00.

I Am Sorry But $120.00 Is Not Much Money Compared To The Hospital Bills One Can Incur Because Their Helmet Is Not A Good Fit Or If Used Been Dropped And Not Going To Protect! A Cost Of $50.00 For A Helmet A Couple Years Old From A Reputable Ski Shop Would Be Recommended They Always Have Some From The Previous Year. Don't Just Buy To Buy. Get The Proper Fit!!!!!!!!!!! A Concussion Is Not A Fun Injury To Deal With! They Always Seem To Rear Their Ugly Head Later In Life! Spoken From Experience!!!!!!

You are absolutely right, but I am not saying I want a cheaply built helmet. I just wanted a basic safe helmet that will be fine for a week of skiing. If he were going to ski 50 days a year, I would buy him a top of the line helmet. I am assuming that a discounted, name brand helmet will still be safe.

Look into the Pro Tech helmets. You'll find them in skate/board shops. I wear their basic model, I think it is the ace freecarve model. Retails around $50.00. A plus is that it is a multiple impact helmet. Good removable ear flaps and really a nice looking helmet. Later, RicB.

When are you going to start letting him talk to girls?

I noticed some well priced helmets at Costco during my last visit. Seems like they were Bole brand and priced in the 30s or 40s (I'm not in the market so I didn't give them much attention).
