Nobis Outcome?

Thread Starter
Does anyone know the outcome of Jeremy Nobis' inebriated car chase with police in Park City last year?

Of all the ski film "stars", I've probably enjoyed his high-octane Kamikaze style the most.

Just curious if we can expect more footage from Jeremy this year, or not.
I don't think we will be seeing Nobis this year. Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe he messed himself up pretty good. Injured that is and is out for the season.

Don't think Noby got hurt, just arrested. He was dropped by Lange/ Dynastar. pretty much sucks that this was, what, his third DUI?? D-U-M-B.
if he DUI'd does that mean he also SUI'd?
my sources say he is still on the Dynastar team, can you confirm...
Waxman, I can not confirm that he was dropped. That is what I was told, it could have been a rumor. Then again this being a third offense (I've never seen anything OFFICIAL) could all be hearsay. I honestly thought (heard) Dynastar/Lange dropped him but I could certainly be wrong.

Nobis is still definately skiing for Dynastar / Lange. There is no way they dropped him. I have a very reliable source.

it is going to be hard for him to ski from Jail!

Nobis is listed as a Dynastar Freeride athlete on the current site, guess he's still on the team.

Checked a bit about the case (DUI) it was his 3rd offense (.113 BAC) and he missed his court date (according to the Park City paper of Sept. 29, 2006), there is a bench warrant out for him. He COULD face up to 5yrs in jail and $5000.00 in fines.

...but he's still apparantly a Dynastar athlete.

What was the name of that famous rapist that eluded the FBI for a decade or so while getting credited roles in a couple of ski films?

Not much longer according to the Dynastar rep I talked to. I can't wait to hear why he missed his court date.

Either way Jereme is a great skier man. I hope he finds some peace in his life and is able to put his ghosts to rest.

Maybe that explains his uncanny ability to straight line those huge chutes, he's being chased by demons.

Well, he hired a good attorney - Yengich is no slouch.

However, Nobis' case goes to show what it means to throw all of life's eggs in one basket. He is a talented skier who basically decided to shun academics, thinking that skiing would fulfill all of his life's dreams. But it left him rather one-dimensional, so in the off-months, there's not much to take up time. Given that his lifestyle can be very solitary, and that many of his local peers in Park City have 9-5 day lives these days, there wasn't much to do to pass time.

It's not a fun life, any way you look at it, and I feel sorry for him that he's slipped so far. He's a nice bloke - was always personable as a junior racer and during his USST days - so there's a chance that he can right the ship.

Maybe he'll work on some college studies while he's serving time (and there's little doubt that he'll serve at least some time in the pokey) - he could stand to broaden his horizons a smidge.

Just my $0.02 - YMMV.

I'm in no position to judge Jeremy, or anyone. I've done some amazingly stupid things in life.

But, I tend to agree with sfongfta. Without direction, anyone will get into trouble (financial, emotional, legal).

People like Jeremy appear to be living "The Dream", from most of our views - sponsored big mountain skier with minor fame, a decent income, and Heli Trips we couldn't imagine.

Yet, without regular routine and focus, things can get messy.

Kids are never to old for a spanking!!!! What could set your kid any straighter then being out in a public place where people know who they are, and Mom or Dad, or Mom and Dad spanking his bare butt!

Nice sentiments Songfta. Sounds like your heart is in the right place.

Well, Nobis was sentenced to 62 days in the Summit County Jail back on October 18 - you can read the story here:

http://www.ksl.com/?nid=148&sid=577459

The judge is allowing him to serve the sentence in two segments - one starting today (October 27) and another in May - to allow him to ski during the winter months. I'm thinking that's Ron Yengich's skills at work....

Three DUI's.... he belongs in jail. I've done some tremendously irresponsible driving in my life without one DUI. To get three you'd have to really be screwed up, and often.

Or live as a celebrity in a small Utah town.
It wouldn't be hard to rack up a reputation in Park City.
Jeromy doesn't live in Park City. Trust me There are a great many in that town with bigger nd better Drinking and Drug problems then Nobis has. For his own good I hope he can get checked into a good rehab program.

Agreed. Its not like there aren't plenty of drunk idiots driving around Park City...you'd have to be really particularly blitzed to stand out from the crowd.

I agree that people with multiple convictions for DUI should definitely do non-joke sentences.

Kobe Bryant?

Seriously though - three DUI's means you are a real screw-up and deserve to be in jail for constantly endangering the lives of innocent people.

I have no more sympathy for him than I do for the endless parade of drink addled and/or drug addled and/or weapon-carrying idiots from the NBA or NFL or MLB.

Had to add this:

Isn't Nobis featured at his home in SLC in "Off the Grid"?
