received my Giro Bad LT helmet today. What a disappointment.

As soon as I removed it from the box I noticed the foam insert was glued into the hard shell crooked. lol you put the helmet on, look in the mirror and the helmet is pointed off to the side about 1.5". I find it hard to believe that they did not notice it before shipping to me. I mean its THAT bad. the GIRO sticker on the front of the helmet is placed off center as well!

This helmet was a standard helmet that they upgraded to audio for me. So they had it out and in their hands to install the speakers. If they really did not see this I'm shocked.

Anyway, I won't mention what company I bought this from because all in all they were really cool to deal with and as long as they take it back and refund my money I would consider doing business with them again.

What a bummer though.

they do that so it matches the average bad lt. customers baseball hat....

Don't all "bad" lieutenants wear their helmets cock-eyed.
I guess that's a factory SECOND lieutenant.
(BTW, just so you know It's pronounced leFtenant )

I will for sure! They have a 14 day return/refund policy. anything over 14 days is credit only. Since I received it today I shouldn't have any issues...I hope.

Amish,

Not to try and change your mind, again, but I've got a Boeri Vibe (called something different when I bought it last year) and I'm very happy with it.

As a bonus, its made in Italy instead of China. I'd like to think that means there are a few more quality control measures in place and that its a higher quality helmet.

OKD

Let us know either way who you bought it from.

I have to say after seeing the quality of this helmet and the materials used I'm reluctant to buy another helmet. Maybe its because I'm used to motorcycle helmets. The idea of wearing that plastc and hard foam on my head bothers me. I was looking at some helmets this morning and found if I spend $150+ I can get a much better quality helmet. More along the lines of what I'm used to for riding my Ninja. Build quality, materials, comfort, safety...seem you get what you pay for.

Anyway I should find out this morning if they will refund my money or not.

The Bad LT that might be the ugliest helmet I ever seen, send it back and get somethin else.

So says you. I think its one of the best looking helmets around. It is junk though and a complete waste of money. I will get a helmet but I'll have to wait a bit as I need to buy a jacket, pants, gloves and 2 goggles, (day and night). The helmet will come later.
Sounds like you decided not to buy a helmet at this time. I'm beginning to doubt there was anything wrong with the helmet. If the pads are glued in a little crooked, how does that make the helmet fit crooked? Giro makes good stuff, if you don't want it, fine, return it, but don't call it defective if it's OK. Wear your motorcycle helmet skiing. That's what Phil Mahre did when he raced DH, if I recall correctly.

Dude c'mon now. would you like a picture for proof? I didn't say the "pads" were crooked. The entire foam insert is crooked. You know the foam piece that makes up the inside of the helmet? That is glued in crooked.

Why would I lie about that? The helmet looks awesome. I love the style of it. If it was straight I'd be pimping it for sure. I am disappointed with the quality of the helmet. logo is crooked, inner foam is crooked. It some how made it past Q.A.

I do want a helmet but the ones I'm looking at now are out of my price range and since I'm on a budget for ski gear I will have to wait a bit longer before buying is all.

For real man, the helmet is boxed up but I will unpack it and take pictures to show you. I hate nothing more than being called a liar. IMO thats pretty much what you just did.

P.S. Actually I decided to unpack it and take a picture. Here you go. Look closely and you will see the foam insert positioned about 1 to 1.5 inches to the right. When I spend my money I expect a new item to look and work like it should.

and here is another one with some lines to help see:
The red lines are crooked, but they aren't lined up with the helmet liner. Look where the long line intersects the helmet liner. Left of center at the brow and right of center at the nape.

Return it if you don't like it. It looks OK to me, but I've returned helmets before based on poor fit only. I'm not calling you a liar, I believe the helmet failed to meet your standards.

so my lines are crooked a bit, though the red lines are lined up with the shell of the helmet NOT the liner. trust me the inner foam is crooked. even without those lines you can see that. What are you blind? Look at that first pic and look very closely. You are going to sit there and tell me it looks good? GTFO. thats off and anyone with half an eye for detail can see that.

Amish,

I gotta admit, I don't see it either. Looking at your pic with the red lines, look at the bottom horizontal line. Compare where that line hits the changes in the outer shell. Notice the edge just above that bottom line is about the same distance from the line on both the left and right sides. Now look at the inner padding part. Look at where the webbing for the chin strap starts. On both the left and right, it's righ on that line. The forward rivet and the front of the ear covers are also symetrical left and right. So it looks to me that the inner padding and outer shell are lined up correctly. That said, if the stickers are off center, it will make the whole thing look off when you look in the mirror.

Maybe your head's just on crooked (just kidding!)

But I agree that if you don't like the fit and the look, send it back.

Ignore my red lines please. Both of you guys are wrong. The inner liner is off. I can clearly see it in the photo and its even more noticable in person. then of course once you put it on and its pointed in the wrong direction its even easier to see. It is clearly off. Maybe because i have seen it in my hands and you can only go off the picture is what makes it harder for you guys to see. I'm telling you its clear as day and I'm looking at that first picture and it blows my mind that no one else sees it.

As for the ear pads; they are not crooked and I never said they were. they ARE NOT attached to the inner liner. they are completely separate from the liner and are in the correct place. The only part thats crooked is the inner foam liner. the straps are good, the ear pads are good and the helmet is really cool looking. Its just the foam insert thats crooked. You guys can't see it so I can only guess I have a better eye than you. That explains that.

If I just didn't like the helmet I would have posted just that. I wouldn't be making up a story about it being crooked. makes no sence to do so.

Anyway, I'm finished. I feel that I have to defend myself in this thread but I can only say the same thing so many times before sounding like a broken record. (too late.)

I'll leave off by saying this: If the inner foam was straight I would be keeping this helmet because it looks better than any other ski helmet in the world IMO. There is not a helmet on the market that compares to the Giro Bad LT style. As for the crooked sticker...I would have taken it off anyway.

I don't see it. But I couldn't see fuzzies on the red TNF jacket either.

Notice the three round bits that form a triangle in the centre of the helmet. If the liner were straight, the near vertical red line would (almost) go through the middle of the top one and half way between the bottom two.

some of you guys are being real jerks. You know, this is the type of thing that drives people away from here.

Hmmm after going back and forth in this thread I decided to post over at my main hangout ( a PC forum ) and see if anyone else could see something off. Here is a link and it seems I'm not the only one.

http://www.tech-pc.co.uk/forum/viewt...=489657#489657

With that said I can now officially sign off of this thread and move on. I'm not crazy and I'm not seeing or making anything up.:

I will say that some badass people do use it, so its not all bad. I hope it works out for you. I jsut find it weird that giro 9, and 10 mx seem to get great reveiws here and you helmet is bad.

Was it made in China in that "other" Giro factory :
Did someone get a hold of a bunch of Giro rejects and sell them for cheap :

well guys, I read up on this helmet before buying and it does have great reviews out there. In fact all of the reviews I've read on Giro in general were good.

I did get a good deal on this though. It normally runs $74.95 for the audio helmet but this site sells them for $59. Not a huge difference but not too bad considering everyone else sells them for the larger amount.

I figure it was a fluke. Once I have my refund I'll post the site I bought it from.
