The Bros are faster than any GS ski I've had. I'll just look better on the GS skis


I never said I didn't like them, it just took me until Friday to get comfortable on them.

Racing

Vi-kub's going to Columbia next year which has a club racing program (I think they compete with Dartmouth, Cornell, etc). I offered to send her to race camp this summer if she was interested, but she hasn't made up her mind yet.

For an independent assesment of her speed level, according to UL, she skis fast. I said, "for a girl...", and he said, "no, she just skis fast..." (Sorry Tsavo, I know we can't all ski like girls).

You can't just go out and have a fun day of skiing anymore... now you have to look good doing it too?

They compete with Cornell, not Darmouth. You should encourage her to do it, she will enjoy it a lot I am sure.

As for me... i'll watch from the lift or something - I can't keep pace with all these young'ns...

i didn't drink, was student body president, and captain of the swim team in high school.

i ended up taking 7 years (social drinking, scuba diving, body surfing, and "happy" hiking got the best of me) to get a BA in Speech Communications. and i didn't even attend a heavy partying school (Cal Poly, SLO).

They look like a drinking team with a skiing problem... I'm sure Vi-cub would not enjoy anything that is happening on that team...

Most of the dudes I knew from Cal Poly were really into hydroponic plant culture and hybrid crosses, usually in their closets and not in the university greenhouses if you know what I mean.

I think you forgot to add competitive piercing and tattoo to your resume, not to mention crystal reading...

Vi-kub has addicts, both recovering and not recovering, on both sides of the family, so she has a pretty definite stance on substance abuse. Plus she is not the type of person who is easily dissuaded from a goal.

Now I, on the other hand, was always ready to go skiing. And we don't even want to talk about the Pirates of the Carribean...

So speaking of skiing...

Thanks for letting me bumrush the event!

I totally appreciate the time and energy you put into herding all the cats/turtles during my brief crashing at the tail-end of LGC3.

I further appreciate being allowed into the hilltop Vail wedding and the time and energy you put into feeding me and the rest of the crew. What a great suprise.

Again, thanks for making me feel like I'd been part of the LGC experience since Day 1 and allowing me to suck your vapor trails on more than one run during my 3 days riding with the various groups.

I'd like to think I made a solid impression on more than a few folks and that I'll share turns with some of you in the near future.

If anybody makes it out to Cali next season, be sure and holler and I'll do my best to steer you toward cheap accomodations, sweet runs, and affordable food and grog!

We had ‘global’ representation again this year with Freefall and Mrs. Freefall (United Kingdom) and Little Tiger (Australia via Ireland). States represented this year in addition to Colorado are: Kentucky, Ohio, North Carolina, California, New York, Virginia, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Michigan, and Texas. We had a few Bears and friends of Bears whose home states I had to guess, so please correct me if I missed anyone!

This year we had 9 more skiers show up compared to last year, which is pretty amazing since LGC III was much shorter than LGC II. It was terrific to see so many return for another go-round as well as new friends too. We missed our ‘broken’ Bears and wish all of you speedy healing, PT, and whatever else lies ahead in your recuperation.

A special thanks to all our Photo/Video Bears who took and posted so many pics on the thread, especially at the surprise vow renewal at Vail. And of course a super-thank-you to Mr. Vertical: the t-shirts are a real hoot (and my skiing seems to improve whenever I wear it!).

More snow is predicted here tonight and tomorrow, so if all goes well, I may visit Loveland in a day or so. But somehow, it just won’t be the same without all of you!

Above is the link to DD223's trip report for those who haven't seen it (great report DD). My father and I had a lot of fun skiing with and meeting everyone... plus the skiing conditions were incredible. One can't ask for much more.

I also want to thank Uncle Louie for his hard work on the event and for putting up with skiing with the three of us for one entire morning without the support of the LGC group. I should also thank Sugar Cube for letting us steal her new husband for an entire morning of skiing. I think we are going to try to make this a yearly excursion (my skis are already concerned for their ability to survive another trip) because we had so much fun.

BTW, y'all left here too early: Breck was still pretty spiffy today and more snow's forecast over the next several days. Several lifts were closed but the skiing's still niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice!

I'm jealous! Tomorrow its back to reality for me... I will be skiing the slush that is left at Greek Peak (yes they are opening up for tomorrow! : ). It just won't be the same as it was out there... thats for sure. Maybe I will shoot some video or pictures and we can compare and contrast the mountains.
