Let's Go Colorado III - Page 13

Historian's Notes

There have been some very memorable moments from the last few days ...

said to Bear because he was bent over in a tuck with poles straight up in the air "Are you from Texas?" "No, why" "Ha, you sure look it"

many bears (loudly!!) cheered as SCSA was about to board a lift with a man in a LOVELY shiny light yellow fart bag, so at the last moment SCSA *acidentally* drops his poles and turns to mister fartbag and says "oh sorry I dropped my poles, I'll just catch the next chair"

the wedding reception was held on the fourth floor of eagles nest where two bears demonstrated the "stop, drop and roll technique" on the slippery floor

the snow was skiing MIGHTY hard in some places ... luckily SCSA explained why: due to the clocks being rolled back three weeks earlier, we're on the snow an hour earlier in the day three weeks earlier in the year, which means the snow will stay frozen longer, or ... ""it's warmer earlier, so the snow stays harder longer" (huh?)

please add to the list!!

It took three days for all the very observant Bears to notice Cube's new "gear". (Then I told them what to look for)

"Somebody" remarked...."They aren't people, they are skiers!"

We will leave this Bear nameless....but this guy wanted to know who this SugarCube person was and why he/she kept trying to take over the LGC thread....and how this SC person always seemed to know when I was "internet challenged" and could contact me by phone. Finally his wife elbowed him and said, "You idiot, they're dating!" Yesterday said Bear dropped his pole on the lift, so Tsavo taped it to his wrist. (Rookie of the year votes will be posted after the final day at Loveland)

Would somebody please explain the patented KLKaye stopping technique, she seems to have conveniently skipped it.

Mrs. Madmike (Tiff) had a breakthrough moment yesterday in some serious crud.

This just in from Viking Kaj who's skiing Copper. 6" new so far and it's forecast to snow all day. Looks like we have another Loveland type day tomorrow w/o the wind.

Bring your powder skis to Breck tomorrow people.

Louie and Sugarcube, I have been without intenet and am in my car on Main St. in Frisco tapping on to a public link. Congrats on the big surprise and for including all of us in the event. I love you both, but together you are really something special. That's the way it should be, eh?

I have also sent you a PM. Will see you all at Breck on Monday.

So next week looks like this:

4/9 Breckenridge
4/10 Vail
4/11 Off
4/12 Off
4/13 Breckenridge
4/14 Loveland (Last Call!!!!)

Please refer to the original (Page 1) post for meeting times and places.

Nancy & I have a few free and discounted tix ($35-40) remaining. I also have several vouchers for A-Basin discounts on lift tix, lunch, etc. If anyone would like them, please PM me.
Any chance I could talk you into A Basin on the 13th instead of Breck? I need to get home earlier in the day (and need to drop another Bear at DIA on my way), but would love to ski with you all...

What do you think?

Although well outside the camera's practical range and cropped within an inch of its life, visual evidence of the horrific yellow "fart-bag" so referenced and avoided by all:

Breck was incredible today, boot deep in places. Still snowing a little but starting to taper off. This kid from Michigan was having a great time, several big grin moments. Plus there were no lift lines. See you all in the morning.

Today Bodes Well For Breck Tomorrow: Get Your Fatties ON and Call In Sick!

Just back from Copper with the Vi-Kub where it has been snowing all day. The snow report said 0" at 7am but the parking lot told a different story. Very mashed potatoes (yes my family was republican and is partly from Indiana !) at the bottom but totally sweet once you got over 10,000 feet. Up to knee deep in the trees...!!!

Needless to say we had a great time. I think my daughter is of the Creek tribe, because she keeps skiing into them all the time when we are tree skiing. Today was no exception. Also found a rock and a tree stump, but it looks like nothing that about a third of P-TEX candle won't fix. Thankfully neither the core nor her skull were broached.

If you are looking for that big spring dump, tomorrow could be a very good day to develop a case of the rare Himalyan flu, that is, the kind that only comes on when the monsoon is blowing over Chomolungma (or in our case, the pow is flying at Breck.) My expectation is if a few of those clouds made it over the Ten Miles that tomorrow could be a good day. And with Uncle Louey's famous stache detector it could be a very good day!

On a sadder note, it is down to Denver very early tomorrow morning to drop the Vi-Kub off at DIA. Unfortunately for her, school starts again on Tuesday, but she sends her best regards to all the LGC 3ers! Fortunately for me, I get to stay and ski another week.

It was a great day today at Copper! Sorry I didn't get the chance to hook up with any Bears on this trip. Won't be back til next season now - it's DIA in the morning for us. Congrat's UL and SC!!!

The skiing was great this morning. Made several loops on Triple Zero and Crosscut with freshies on every run.

Vi-Kub is leaving on Midwest at 0630, it could be a bear jam down there tomorrow.
