NEW: Epic Auctions!

I know we won’t be able to keep up with SAC but we will be trying to offer an item up for auction whenever we can. Depending on the item the auction might last for a couple of days or a couple of weeks.

The first item is Fischer AMC 79 / Railflex bindings donated by SierraJim.

All proceeds will be going to make Epic a better place for everyone.

This is truly cool!
Thanks Sierra Jim

I've got some Dynastars circa 1985, 185cm. Problem is shipping from DR is much more than the cost of skis.

Anyhow, GREAT IDEA!!!!!!!!!

Not planning on any gear this season, but this is an excellent idea and you never know what might pop up and interest people.

Not that anyone would back out, but are bids binding contarcts of purchase?

Yes.

I don't mean to cause any trouble, but since the proceeds are to benefit EPIC SKI and undisclosed, but possibly a portion to the source (?) it would seem that principles/moderators/owners should not take part as it could give the appearence of a plant "running up the price" to sweeten the take.

I am NOT suggesting that this is the case and apologize to Phil who has bid already--no disrespect intended. I just bring the issue up for discussion now so that this can be settled early on.

Sorry.

But I do like the idea. Sounds great.

I understand where you're coming from on this one, but I'd be happy with the moderators having the option to take part, they are just skiiers too, you know!
We get absolutely nothing, zip, nadda from Epic Ski as compensation for being a moderator. Not allowing us to bid on the auction would just be descrimination.
If we were talking about a raffle or a contest, having "insiders" involved could cause a concern IMO. But an auction? No problem at all in my mind, as Phil's $$ (for example) spend just as well as mine.

I think it's great overall, and I think it's great that the mods are bidding as well.

As far as avalanche patrol biding, Coach nailed it.

If I were to misuse my moderator powers(which I would never do), I'd edit your post and could really make you look like a fool. But I know you'll do a good job of that all on your own.::

Then , if so, the said moderator would be the new owner of such bid item . What my worry is if someone by the name of Sief Tchnee starts bidding against Tief Schnee and or arguing between themselves then I would assume he is lost at sea with his laptop and a search must be made for these men immediately

As the arbitor of humor, he approves

I have no real issue here, but thought this should be discussed early-on so that all are clear.
I appreciate your bringing it up. Moderators are simply members of our community who have volunteered their time as site janitors. I don't think we should ask them to limit their participation as a result of that service to us, do you?

I a bit surprised this thread is not being updated with the winner of the Sierra Snowboard Ski and Patio auction, and the new auction for Dan Depiro's book "Everything the Instructors Never Told You About Mogul Skiing"

Anyway a new member..ahem Supporter RigaRider won the first auction walking away with a sweet deal on Fischer AMC 79 skis and bindings.

Dan's book is in auction right now through 10/21/06, and is being bid up pretty fast.

Hey, is there a new Epic sniping service no one told me about?

A new auction has been posted for a T4 Stand donated by Alpinord of Slidewright. Bid early bid often, but don't outbid me.
